I was asked a tough question at our forum couple of days back.. Has Australian cricket team ever lost a test series and also the ODI series at home on same tour by a visiting team?
Then, answer was no. From today onwards, answer is yes ~ South Africa beat Australia in Australia in both test & ODI series on this 2008-09 tour by a clear margin of 2-1 in Tests & dominating result of 4-1 in following series of 5 One day internationals.
With both the trophies, Proteas also snatched numero uno tag aka ICC World Number 1 team ranking from Aussies who, under captainship of Ricky Ponting, appeared teethless, clueless kangaroos for ... .. Read complete article |

Imagine a young boy of 3 competing with his father in a run. can you see the ease with which father would run ALONG with his son and not AHEAD of him.. knowing he can always win!
Similar was the case today in this Adelaide Oval one day international where South African team remained in total control right through 48 + 38.1 = 86.1 overs whereas home team Australia hoped against hope for a miracle that never happened. (4th ODI scorecard).
Abraham Benjamin de Villiers, AB de Villiers in short, played innings of his life at Perth in 1st Test Match (where Proteas chased down 414 batting 4th) but his batting deteriorated as this ... .. Read complete article |

16 days away from cricket and reality sank in to Mitchell Johnson today. Left arm fast bowler had an average last season (good as per Australian performance in 2008), only to return with 71 runs off his 9 overs, claiming lone wicket of Herschelle Gibbs who threw his wicket more than Johnson took it.
Nathan Hauritz, the off-spinner, played for Australia in this Sydney oneday international after almost 6 years, and returned with 60 off his 9 overs. 150kmph fast bowler Shaun Tait bowled 2 no-ball & 2 wides in his 55 run 9.3 overs and Australia ended up giving away 270 runs in 46.3 overs.

Forget retired Glen McGrath or even Shane Warne who didn't play onedayers from January 2003 (except one off ODI vs Asia XI in Jan 2005) before kissing International cricket goodbye in 2007, first choice Brett Lee is out with foot injury. Stuart Clarke recently had a surgery whereas Mitchell Johnson is rested before upcoming revenge tour to South Africa. Shane Watson has been sent back to domestic cricket for his repeated injury woes and Aussie selectors don't want Peter Siddle's test cricket ability to confuse with crazy/bizarre limited overs cricket.
All rounder Andrew Symonds is still gone fishing!
Result : Australia tried defending healthy 272 in first ODI at Melbourne and failed. Today in second ... .. Read complete article |

Come year 2015 when eleventh cricket World Cup is to be played in Australia & New Zealand, South African fans will be cheering for Melbourne Cricket ground to host the finals, if their team goes all the way.
Reason ~ South Africa can't be beaten at Melbourne in One day internationals. well, not at least by Australia, not until today (16 Jan 09). At Melbourne, South Africa have played 8 ODI, losing only the very first one back in 1992 World Cup against England.
Seven wins since then, in a row. beating Australia 6 out of 6, and New Zealand once.
Remarkable was the patience with which Proteas played today. Electing to bat ... .. Read complete article |
