List of most century in tests shows lot closer race than similar one in one day internationals (ODI or one day matches). Sachin Tendulkar is leader in both the lists but he's closing in on 50 hundreds while no other batsman internationally has even reached 30 mark.
Ricky Ponting of Australia is the second front runner but his one day form seems to have dipped in recent times while aging Sri Lankan opener = Sanath Jayasuriya, man with 28 centuries, has retired.
Sourav Ganguly was another prolific century maker in the format but he quit after 22 while Herschelle Gibbs holds the record most centuries in one day matches for South Africa but he ... .. Read complete article |

Cricket is more than just about baundaries and sixes but I guess I'm in minority with people who admire great fast bowling and batsmen who counter them with authority..
Today's cricket, inspired by twenty20, is more about sixes which lands us onto the question ~ which batsman has hit most sixes in one day cricket career? following is your answer :-
Shahid Afridi, the Pakistani pathan who started his career as leg spinner, scored century the first time he went out to bat (thanks to Waqar Younis' bat he borrowed that day) which is still the fastest ever, and changed his career forever. Afridi, on 21st June 2010, took over Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya who's second ... .. Read complete article |

When we talk cricket, we talk batsmen most often, don't we? so here's dedicating an article to all those bowlers out there, as we start this list of dream debuts.. rookies who recked their opposition.
Fidel Edwards, right arm slinging atheletic fast bowler from Barbados island, made most of his raw pace against minnow home team Zimbabwe to register the best bowling figures in one day match on debut (first match). Harare, the venue, offered bit of zip for seam bowlers that overcast day but West Indies had put up healthy 256 on board thanks to unbeaten 127 by left handed Wavell Hinds. Edwards, taking the new ball with Marv Dillon, dismissed Vusi Sibanda (c keeper), Ben Rogers ... .. Read complete article |

100 overs in one day internationals = 600 balls (excluding wides & no balls), we reach a nail biting finish when we don't know the winner till the last ball is bowled.
Sometimes, we don't find a winner as match finishes as tied. See list of all tied cricket matches, but in following, lets discuss the closest but decided one day cricket matches, also known as match with smallest win margin..
A total of 37 ODI games have been won by 1 wicket standing till today, 8 September 2009. 1 each by Srilanka, Netherlands, Bangladesh and India. Kenya & South Africa have won 2 games off the last ball while Zimbabwe & Australia thrice. Pakistan ... .. Read complete article |

When major teams play minnows, win margins are expected to be big, if not huge.
But, lets start this record article with an India vs Srilanka match, played at Sharjah back on 29 October 2000. Both big teams of cricket arena (it was a final match of Coca Cola cup), Lankans defeated Indians by 245 runs. Sanath Jayasuriya scored 189 (still the 5th biggest ODI score), propelling islanders to 299/5 after electing to bat, to which Indians replied extremely poorly = 54 allout which is still the 7th lowest ODI total.

Over 1300 cricket articles typed with these two hands, I was surprised to see who holds the record for best bowling figure in all one day internationals. and then, I recalled watching the show myself..
Chaminda Vaas, arguably the best fast bowler Srilankan cricket has produced and unarguable the best left armers action, bowled a mesmerise spell of 8 overs, dismissing 8 Zimbabwe batsmen at Sinhalese sports club in Srilanka, to register most wicket taken by a bowler in ODI cricket in an innings. It was day match, quite bright as Lankans opted to field first.
Zimbabwe may be a unrecognisable cricket team now, they were quite bullish in those days with Deon Ebrahim, Flower ... .. Read complete article |
