I was asked 2 days ago at itsonlycricket forum about the situations in which this Australia vs New Zealand ODI series will be drawn.. I fun-fully answered a tie or a rain abandoned situation as the two possibilities for a draw but never thought this would be the case.. and guess what - it happened today!
Pouring down from the morning at Gabba ground in Brisbane, this final onedayer between Australia and New Zealand finally started just half an hour before the cut-off time.. 22 overs were given to Australians to bat, with 4 overs of mandatory powerplay and 2 overs each of batting & bowling power plays.

New Zealand won first two ODIs of this 2009 Chappell-Hadlee series but both of those wins were narrow. Kiwis had failed to register a thumping win despite bowling incredibly well in those two games.
Next two game, rival Australians tightened up their game and successfully squared series 2-2 today with fifth & final one day international to be played at Gabba in Brisbane on Friday, the 13th.

Even though today's cricket is more muscular than artistic, we still have vacancy for classical batsmanship. sadly, there aren't many around.
Grant Elliott is one rookie in same mold.. Born in South Africa but shifted to New Zealand for the same reason why Kevin Pietersen switched to England (quota system in Protea's team selection), Elliott was given an opportunity by Kiwi selectors inside 6 months the day he qualified New Zealand residence-ship.

Coming in to lead the side as selectors wanted captain Ricky Ponting to rest before revenge series in South Africa, Michael Clarke termed losing a home ODI series to rival New Zealand as "unimaginable".
Well, 24 hours later, New Zealand huffed & puffed their way to a 2-0 lead in this Commonwealth Bank 5 ODI series. Although Michael Clarke did his bit with a painful 98 off 133 balls, Aussie total of 225 was never going to be enough for visitors in today's modern cricket with batting power play.

Cricket Australia loves to name test cricket series.. they play Ashes series against England, Border-Gawaskar trophy versus India, Frank-Worell Trophy rivalry against West Indies whereas Test series every second year against New Zealand is known as Trans-Tasman Trophy.
Here's another name : Chappell-Hadlee Trophy, a Cricket one day international series between Australia & New Zealand played more frequently than any other two cricketing nations.
In February 2009, Chappell-Hadlee trophy resumes with New Zealand back for their tour of Australia in which they played 2 test match series last last year and will play 5 ODI series this time along with a twenty20 International on 15th February (Sunday) at Sydney Cricket Ground.
