It was a highly anticipated game with added interest of Yuvraj Singh's return to International cricket but rain just refused to go away, leaving spectators wet and dry..
Officials had shifted the match an hour earlier expecting poor weather but right from the beginning, we started to talk about the cut off time for a 5 over clash as it rained heavily at Vizag. Showers weakened little bit towards the start of play and groundsmen promised to make conditions ready inside 45 minutes but covers never came off.

After inning + 115 runs defeat in first test at Hyderabad, Kiwi performance could have only improved here at Bangalore. But to this extent? no one had imagined. Visitors were in the game till the last session, just couldn't snatch those extra couple of wickets to set cat among the pigeons and secure a memorable victory. As for Indians, it was a good learning test match with youngsters doing the job which should serve them well going forward..

New Zealand is a country with less than hundred first class cricketers and hence it's commendable they've maintained the status. So, when they lose by an inning and 115 runs inside four rain curtailed days, which happens to even major teams frequently, it's not very displeasing. This was first test match win for Indians after 8 straight defeats (all overseas) and they wanted to make a statement..
R Ashwin overshadowed Cheteshwar Pujara's maiden century with his 12 wickets haul, the best figures by a bowler in Ind v NZ tests. Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson made the biggest contributions from the visitors but everything favoured home team.

Yuvraj Singh, overcoming cancer battle which kept him out of cricket throughout the year, was today named in India's World T20 squad but selectors have shown lots of sense by including him in test squad for home team against New Zealand as well, giving southpaw some much needed match practice before the big tournament..

New Zealand last toured India in 2010, losing the test series 0-1 and one day series 0-5 and now they're again ready to visit the asian giants..
This will be start of India's home season, with New Zealand playing two test matches and then two twenty20 internationals before both teams head over to Sri Lanka for T20 world cup 2012.
The first test match will be played from 23rd August at Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Hyderabad which has only hosted one test previously, between same two teams couple of yeara ago (it ended as draw). The second test match is to be held at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore from 31st August.
