From 30 degree centigrade to 13 ~ transition wasn't easy for Indian boys, reaching to Ireland's no dressing room stadium in Belfast. Temporary tents were made for players to sit/change while only a few Irish locals turned up to watch the International cricket..
There also was no coach, not many free-from-flu players to make team of 11 & even Indian fans on television mot much interested, yet win is a win. Specially when you snatch it from opposition better than you, coming from behind.
Conditions were loaded in favour of South Africa, who looked less hungry but always confident under newish captainship of Jacques Kallis. Series decider demands good start, which demands winning the toss if rain is ... .. Read complete article |

I wrote no review of 1st Ind v RSA ODI at Belfast, cause I believe in giving more than 1 chance to every one.. before criticize or praise.
That Future Cup starter ODI amazed me how Proteas stayed cool when Sachin-Dravid partnership took India past 240. Chilled Ireland conditions suited them better, so even the chase was easy.
In short - I saw no hints of how India will come back into this series.
Today in 2nd ODI, toss was first battle captain Rahul Dravid swung India's way. Then came 3 early wickets, then some future batting talent on show from South Africa. JP Duminy (smallish lefthander) joined hungry comeback opener Morne van Wyk. Together, these two ... .. Read complete article |

You don't flick 3rd ball of your innings, across the line - even if the bowler is playing his first one day International.. against your World breaking 385 ODIs.
A lesson Sachin Tendulkar learnt from this India v Ireland onedayer at Belfast yesterday. 2nd lesson came from Sourav Ganguly - how to make most of opportunities - as he creamed his 8th half-century in last 12 limited over matches.
3rd lesson was from Indian team, for all International cricket teams - that matches can be won without a professional full time coach. I did notice Sachin giving some animated tips to Yuvraj Singh & Co in smallish Tent/dressing room at Stormont stadium, with Ganguly encouraging Gautam Gambhir ... .. Read complete article |

I read some news flowing above/under the earth that India Vs South Africa cricket series in Ireland, known as Future Cup, will be badly effected by rain. That is also one of the reason why the organizers (read BCCI) failed to find a famous sponsor..
I said to myself - this doesn't sound correct. Cricket season in England have just started to peak up, & Belfast in Ireland is very next to London. This is the first time Ireland will host an International cricket series, so Rain God might interrupt, will interrupt, but result should be reached specially these days when twenty20 overs a side are played. Following my instinct, I did shuffled the Internet a little, and came ... .. Read complete article |

"Match against India ~ pack fast bowlers & blow the batting".
That is how most International teams plan to counter Indian team. Belief is still firm that Indian boys don't play quick bowling well, and South African cricket is never away from it. There are 6 of them in this story..
India and South Africa will be playing 3 cricket matches (One day Internationals) at Stormont stadium in Belfast, Ireland before one match each against the home team of Ireland. This series is called 'Future Cup', as it's been sponsored by the Future group.
5 days before India select their team, Proteas did it by annoucing a squad of 14 player - 3 of them are ... .. Read complete article |

Video streaming onto our laptops & desktops through Internet is still no where near the altitudes television has gone to, but I long for that day.
In the mean time, within the available options, I decided to look for the best resources we have online to watch cricket matches. India South Africa series was my topic and I looked everywhere. some sites are sleeping after world cup 2007, whereas some are targeting India tour of England, come July 2007. some are very hard to browse, some looked irritating.. but most of them were fake ones. and within those very few who actually give you live (action) streaming cricket matches on your computers, most charge very high prices. I shook ... .. Read complete article |

In idle conditions, Team India should've toured England right after World Cup 2007 faliure. But 1 month Bangladesh tour is now added upon with 3 India vs South Africa ODIs at the Stormont stadium in Belfast - Ireland. What more, both top International cricket teams will play one One day International each against the host team - Ireland. tagging them as a minnow will be a little wrong now, after brilliant performance in caribbean festival just few days ago. Before anything, let me lay down what is the schedule - India vs Ireland on 23rd June, South Africa vs Ireland on 24th. After this, 3 Ind vs RSA one dayers on 26th, 29th and july 1st. Tuesday, Friday and Sunday ... .. Read complete article |

Swinging the jaws up & down, no matter how you chew that gum - it'll never finish. Cricket and Chewing gums have a long history, but recent cricketer's have opted not to be so attracted to it. Phil Simmons was..
A six foot four male from Trinidad = what do you expect? obviously a strong body with atheletic abilities. It's a gift to Trinidadians, or even to the full Caribbean islands - that their men & women will be much stronger human beings than anywhere else. Phil Simmons had little more than that ~ he understood cricket. He knew how to negotiate new ball as a test opener, and also outpaced Malcom Marshall once on a English county stint. ... ..
