What was the highlight of 1st ODI at Nagpur? Apart from Doordarshan Neosports fight and Sourav Ganguly's comeback 98 - Sachin Tendulkar bowled full 10 overs and he was easily the second toughest bowler to face that black-out sunday..
After a long time, Indian team is expected to retain their playing eleven. I am sure Rahul Dravid will be tempted to have another bowler in his armoury for Barabati ODI - someone like Joginder Sharma in for Karthik or Raina. Specially the way pitches have been so flat - but it's important Sachin starts to have some responsibility as a bowler too. Sunday's ODI at Nagpur will go down in history as one of those bad days when match was played on our home soil - yet we couldn't watch it..
Anyways, the good news has come. India vs West Indies remaining 3 One day Internationals - at Cuttack on Wednesday, at Chennai on 27th and at Irfan Pathan's Baroda on Tuesday - the 30th of January 2007 will be AS LIVE on Doordarshan and LIVE on Neosports - the Nimbus sports channel.

On Friday evening, Nimbus Communication says no to the deal with Prasar Bharti. This deal should have allowed Doordarshan to live telecast India vs West Indies first ODI at Nagpur... but Neosports were well prepared.
They made the announcement that they won't share live feeds with Doordarshan, and gave an advertisement in every single Indian newspaper - "Ind v WI ODIs live & exclusive on Neopsorts" next morning - Saturday.... That's when the news broke up.

New opponent. New series... so a new Training camp, at a new venue.
You may feel our Indian boys concentrate more on advertisements and less on their cricket, but that's not the truth. You feel that way because those tv channels shoot those ads so many times at you - that you dream what Mahendra Singh Dhoni is endorsing... Ever realised those advertisements are at higher voice pitch than the live match commentary itself?
9 hours of non-stop same ad video is played on your television on an ODI day, and you have no where to run away but to keep rehearsing it.

It was the 2nd ODI at Jamaica when Yuvraj Singh was bowled off the second last ball of the match, with Indians needing 2 more runs. Yuvraj sat at the pitch for good 5 minutes, as Dwayne Bravo - the bowler, ran all around Sabin Park..
Before that day - 20th May 2005 to be precise, Indian team were on a high after beating Sri Lanka and England comprehensively in home ODIs. On the other hand - West Indies were 8th at ICC ODI rankings and far from confidence..

Have Australia finalised their final 15 for the World cup in March? What about South Africa and Pakistan... or Sri Lanka and West Indies..??
The fact is - no one has. There are places to be grabbed in all major cricket playing teams for the Caribbean World Cup - and our Indian team is no different. Every team has round about 8 or 10 players fixed and remaining 5-6 places will be filled in coming 64 days from today. So does India.

South Africa series proved that we have lost our one day form, but but test form has been satisfying. In short - our batsmen are not making runs. If they do that - Indian bowlers have shown enough guts and can do the job once Indian batsmen start to put their hands up..
What better than a home series against West Indies can they as for. The pitches will be known, the grounds will be familier and the opposition will be good enough to test our true abilities.
