Sri Lanka punish past Zimbabwe to win Micromax cup triseries.

April 2003 was last time when Zimbabwe played final of a multi country tournament (vs Pakistan, including Kenya and Sri Lanka) in Sharjah untill today ~ 9 June 2010, up against Sri Lanka for the cup having beaten third team India twice last week. sadly, baby faced Zimbabweans couldn't absorb the occassion and ended up with an embarrsing defeat..

It was a bizarre triseries where all teams batting second had won the league games and today Lankan captain Tillakaratne Dilshan decided not to experiment. Electing to bowl first, Dilshan's new ball bowlers Nuwan Kulasekara and Dilhara Fernando pegged home team back early from which they never really recovered. Kulasekara, in perticular, bowler his inswingers artistically and mixed an ... .. Read complete article

First two India v Zimbabwe T20 matches ever, on 11th & 13th June 2010.

Young, second string Indian cricket team has been on Zimbabwe tour for over a dozen days now but they seemed have lost themselves in African safari, defeated twice by hosts and once by Sri Lanka to see early exit from Micromax cup triseries..

Suresh Raina's captainship, Murali Vijay's failure to adjust to different conditions, Yousuf Pathan's inability to stay at the crease and lack of fast bowling artillery in Indian domestic cricket has been highlighted but on top of all, non stop cricket is hampering India's success rate is no secret anymore.

Now, to finish off the tour, India play Zimbabwe in 2 twenty20 series, on 11th 12th and 13th June before Asia cup 2010 ... .. Read complete article

India almost out of triseries through another defeat to Zimbabwe.

Two days between South African tour and begining of IPL, five between IPL and World T20 and then a week saparating World T20 and Zimbabwe tour ~ BCCI has turned Indian cricket team into a prostitute who sleeps around way too much and hence is losing her beauty..

Zimbabwe, lowest ranked one day team, have always been a walk in the park for former Indian teams but current one is so exhausted/shameless that in back to back games they've given hosts their 9th & 10th victory after 51 head to heads (India won 39, 2 tied). with yesterday's loss, India are almost out of this Micromax cup triseries 2010.

Over the moon Zimbabweans come crashing down against Sri Lankans.

One has to admit ~ Zimbabwe cricket is looking healthy & hungry once again since the retirement/exit of Heath Streak, Andy Flower, Neil Johnson, Grant Flower, Henry Olonga and Murry Goodwin almost a decade ago. These days, likes of Raymond Price, Brendon Taylor, Tatenda Taibu and Greg Cremer have the potential to push international performers while Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine and Prosper Utseya look good prospects. With Andy Blignaut given a chance to revive his lost cricketing career, African nation seems to be headed upwards for the first time in a long time..

Although not expected to win everyday as yet, Zimbabweans have to learn how to make a statement in each match they play at highest level, ... .. Read complete article

Rohit Sharma's consecutive century drives India past Sri Lanka.

Under 19 world cup in 2006, India debut at the age of 20 and then loads of money courtsey Indian Premier league ~ things were happening quickly for young Rohit Sharma untill he realised he's a cricketer, a performer, and all that success is utterly fragile. He may soon be forgotten by fans if his performances dip..

I wasn't hungry enough, agreed Rohit when accepting his man of the match today, having driven India home against Sri Lanka, scoring his second one day century, in consecutive matches. It was a crucial game for blue boys who had bitten dust against minnows Zimbabwe in previous game so dinner will certainly taste sweater for Mumbai lad and he'll surely sleep ... .. 4 debutants, two first time captains, Zimbabwe wins, by 6 wickets.

2 International debutants, 2 one day debutants and both captains leading their country for the first time ever ~ is a recipe for strange scripts and that's exactly what we had at Queens sports club in Bulawayo today as Elton Chigumbura gave away 20 wides & byes while Suresh Raina failed to force break the partnerships..

First India v Zimbabwe head to head in almost half a decade, Micromaxx cup triseries kicked off with a remarkable game today as Zimbabwe chased down solid 284, and registered only their 9th win against India in 50th encounter. it all started with, as usual, the coin toss which Raina won and elected to bat first, ignoring the fact that his team ... .. Zimbabwe host India and Sri Lanka in a triseries this May-June 2010 and will be hoping to win one or two of their 4 league games to challenge their senior oppositions for a spot in the final of Micromax triseries. Elton Chigumbura has been made the captain of Zimbabwe oneday squad after Prosper Utseya failed to inspire African nation in the World T20 tournament a month ago.

India squad for triseries in Zimbabwe : Suresh Raina captain.

Decreasing number of matches Indian cricket team participates in isn't an option BCCI is willing to try, so the only way they can keep money spinning bunch of boys in the field throughout the year is by building a bigger pool to chose from..

Low profile tours like Zimbabwe are a blessing in disguise for Indian board to try out bench strength, so here's Suresh Raina, on his first assignment as captain of India. IPL followed by T20 World cup has kept most senior Indian cricketers on field or flight for last 3 months and hence MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir have been rested while Sachin Tendulkar has also opted out of African safari and ... ..
