Indian batting is one of the most destructive line-ups in world cricket but every once in a while, they'll bomb cluelessly. Having scored impressive 314 runs in first ODI, today visiting bats came at that same pitch and returned back into pavilion without hustling the scorers like they were still hung-over from the night before. True, there was some blustering wind that Lankans, specially Thisara Perera, used to good effect but 138 allout is no excuse for a team that's eyeing number 1 spot in ICC rankings..

There are several exiting youngsters in international cricket but Virat Kohli is most improved among them. Newly appointed Indian vice captain has made most runs in ODIs than anyone else since World cup 2011 and today, he notched up 5th consecutive half century score, matching Sachin Tendulkar's record (Javed Miandad of Pakistan holds international record with 9 back to back 50+ scores).
And how did Virat do it? Pretty easily to be honest. Fresh from their first test series victory since retirement of Muthiah Muralitharan, Sri Lankans have announced a 15 member ODI squad that comprises plenty of batsmen. In recent times, Lankans have been served well with long batting line-up and making up overs with part time bowlers and they'll be doing the same in next fortnight..

Over a month's break is rare for Indian cricketers. Since IPL, blue boys are cooling their heals at home but now, it's time to get back to work. There's hardly any off-season for Indian cricketers these days but somehow, after IPL, they spend little over a month with family and friends, before they embark on yet another tour -- this time not far but to Sri Lanka for a series of five one day internationals and finishing with a twenty20 (yes, there will be no test matches)..
