I remember Mohammad Azharuddin. do you?
That Indian was a tricky batsman with amazing leg-stump skills. You bowl outside off, yet he'll pull or flick you through midwicket. A career that started with 3 consecutive centuries starting his debut, Azharuddin finished in doubtful circumstances as one of most successful captain of Indian cricket team.
Now that you're clear of about whom I'm referring, try recalling how Mohammad Azharuddin used to field. He was off balanced most of times while catching, stopping the ball or even while throwing it to the keeper. Very similar is today's Kevin Pietersen of England. Both in batting style & fielding try. The difference I can find between Azhar's & KP's fielding ... .. Read complete article |

We've broken our world into many fragments, to call them religion or nation or continents n so on.
A certain religion followers wear Turban on head, mostly found in Punjab state in India. Called the followers of Sikh religion. Wikipedia will tell you more about the Turban, which originally was used to keep head cool with wet cloth on a hot day, coz I'll concentrate on just one sikh in particular ~ Madhusudhan Singh aka Monty Panesar.. bowling left arm spinners for England cricket team these days.
Looking at Monty today, I see tanks of talent combined into one. Confidence is over flowing with record breaking bowling figures over not-high-class batting of West Indies. scary part is ... .. Read complete article |

HONESTLY, I didn't see those elegant drives flowing in 235 minutes I spared on Michael Vaughan as he batted against West Indies in Leeds test, to make 103.
HONESTLY, that Vaughan 100 appeared to me like an experienced English batsman washing his hands off a learning Caribbean attack, specially with another run-machine (Pietersen) at the other end.
Honestly, I've highlighted 'honesty' so far in the article, because hero of this post ~ England test captain Michael Vaughan, uses it more than any word else. As he fights on with injuries, his desire to give something significant to the game he played professionally, mounts on. The best possibility is Ashes 2009.. and honesty is how Vaughan targets it.

If you don't know, let me remind you that West Indies and England go into a long cricket series of 4 tests, 2 twenty20 Internationals & a few one dayers - starting 17th May. Another piece of information - Indian team play 3 ODIs against South Africa in Ireland (at stormont stadium in Belfast), towards the very end of month of June.
The trouble : 2nd and 3rd India-South Africa ODIs clash with a 20-20 International & then a onedayer in West Indies tour of England. Dates 29th June & 1st July to be precise.

Get your line right bowlers, because Andy Flower is deputy of Peter Moores. and he'll teach every English batsman how to reverse sweep a cricket ball, along the carpet & to the the baundary..
First the news, which says Andy will be replacing Mathew Maynard - the assistant coach of outgoing Duncan Fletcher. He has worked before with Peter Moores, who hopes it'll be great help having Andy flower in the bunch.
For a brief flashback, lemme remind that Andy Flower played test & ODI cricket for Zimbabwe. As a wicket keeper who was easily the best batsman in the side. He retired after 20 years of first class cricket, making 4794 test match runs from 63 International ... .. Read complete article |

To win anything, only requirement is to know preciously what's that "anything". 'summarize your goal in two sentences, otherwise you don't have a goal' someone said, and I believe him. Is English cricket ready to make a priority list? here's a start..
Q : what England fans really want? an Ashes wining team or a cricket team that will win cricket matches, tours & tournaments like on going cricket world cup. Obviously second expectation is much tougher but that summarizes our goal in two sentences, doesn't it.
A : Marcus Trescothik is not a fall back option. He betrayed England team when pressure was highest (Ashes 2006 downunder) and now when he knows next Ashes series will be ... .. Read complete article |
