As itsonlycricket enters her 3rd year online, my belief in Ian Chappell's saying 'run on board is always better than having to score them second' continues to deepen.
Curators around the world prepare flattest pitches possible for limited over cricket match, and Twenty20 goes even faster. Brendon McCullum, captaining New Zealand side for the first time - opted to field with not much variety in is bowling armory. England got off to a brisk start with Phil Mustrard & Luke Wright putting on 12 inside first 2 overs. Mustard hit 2 fours & a six in his 13 ball 20 & then on - kiwis were always chasing the game.. Scorecard.
Kevin Pietersen had platform ... .. Read complete article |

Recently, former captain Nasser Hussain had tipped current England cricket team as 'soft'. I can't say I disagree with Nasser..
English cricket is failing to find batsmen who could stand on opposition's bowling & fire fours & sixes. much is expect off Bell, Bopara, Pietersen but none of them score at strikerate of over 150 runs/100balls like Sehwag of India, Gilchrist of Australia, Jayasuriya of Srilanka or Chris Gayle of West Indies do at top of batting order.
Cricket is very much a game of initiative, which current English team don't care too much about.
Now, Opposition is New Zealand. Another sweet cricket team with not many teeth to bite you. that said - ... .. Read complete article |

Once not too long ago - England were the 2nd test team in world and pushing on for number 1 spot.
Their ODI record never improved, but ability to play good test cricket session after session was on a rise. They won back the Ashes in 2005, drew with India in India in 2006 and beat West Indies & Srilanka at home. Then, they moved to Australia and lost Ashes 2006 5-nil.
All confidence was lost!
Forgettable tour of Srilanka in late 2007 (which they lost 1-0), England under Michael Vaughan has landed onto Kiwi Land. for a full tour of tests, ODIs and two twenty20 matches. New Zealand conditions seem to please English ... .. Read complete article |

They say the ball swings a lot in New Zealand. but so does in England, which means batsmen from both teams are confortable playing against one another in each others country.
Now I'm not sure I've seen England team play test cricket in New Zealand in short career Itsonlycricket has online, but February to March of year 2008 gives me an opportunity I don't want to miss. England have always played good test match cricket but Kiwis at home are always a force to reckon with. Although the record suggests very differently.. out of 41 England vs New Zealand test matches in New Zealand, England have won 16 and lost only 3.
Kiwis certainly have ... .. Read complete article |
