Characterless Indians force draw : Courageous England go home empty hand.

You are on a roll kid.. enjoy it while it lasts, cause it never does!

These lines from Michael Douglas starer "Wall Street" fit perfectly for India's captain MS Dhoni today, as his team, on a roll with 3 wins straight, played for a draw in this Delhi test match against England, and earned it. Dhoni, a fun loving young man that he is, got rid of wicketkeeping pads and bowled the last over himself to wrap-up a tame draw.

With heavy fog every morning and lightless evenings (plus both captains agreeing not to use flood lights) - Draw had probably won this test match much before England bowled a delivery or Indians played one after ... .. Read complete article

India chase down 4th biggest 4th innings test match target

Asked about India's dull record chasing test match totals batting 4th, Coach Gary Kristen said on day 3 of this Chennai match - "if that's the perception, then we would like to change that".. and so they did.

India chased down 387 today - the highest test match target ever achieved in India or asia, which now stands 4th in overall list Internationally (record list).

Riding on blistering start by Virendra Sehwag where he scored second fastest half century by an Indian on Day 4, India made sure on Day 5 that they picked up one and twoes coupled with occassional baundaries with Sachin Tendulkar scoring his 41st century (only his 3rd in 4th innings). ... .. Years from now, fans would wonder why England team had training sessions in Abu Dhabi for a test series against India, in India!

Answer : England lost Cuttack ODI (26 Nov 2008) and an hour hence, before 5th straight defeat could sink in, Terrorist attacks in Mumbai shoked the World. England decided to fly back home. understandably.

A week later, after array of security checks, English cricket team arrived back in India to finish their commitment with a changed schedule - Test Match venues changed from Ahmedabad and Mumbai to Chennai and Mohali.

4th ODI : Rain drain, England entertain but India wins again.

50 over game turned into 44 over game turned into 22 over game and all this, when India had batted only 17 overs after losing the toss.

Rain was inevitable from the beginning and both captains wanted to field first. Having lost the toss, another bad luck happened for India that they didn't get their batting power play cause match was reduced to only 22 overs each side.

When the match started for the 3rd time, India got only 5 overs to bat from which - they scored quickfire 83 runs. Since Duck-Worth Lewis system (D/L method) gives advantage to the team which has more wickets remaining - India's total of 166 was turned into ... .. Read complete article

3rd ODI : So close yet so far for England, 3-0 lead for India

England will certainly have their excuses but it was once again a comfortable victory for the home side in the end. The fate of the game was decided by D\L method but had the game gone the distance ~ result would hardly been different. There are quite a few things for the ICC to look for, as here was every chance for a full game, when you are having lights in the stadium you have to use it ,I don't see any sense in wasting 30-35 minutes at the start when you have the resources to avoid these circumstances, the lights sported a deserted look as the players left the ground much to the dislike of the capacity crowd.

2nd ODI : 2nd Century for Yuvraj, 2nd loss for England

How do you recover from 3 for 29 in 7.3 overs? send in a batsman who scored century in his last Innings!

Yuvraj Singh, yesterday at Indore in 2nd One day International against England, became only the 5th Indian batsman to score back to back century after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid & VVS Laxman.

It was a dusty pitch at Maharani Usharaje Stadium and, "240 would have been defend-able" said India Vice Captain Virendra Sehwag in post match press conference.. India had set a target of 292, thanks to bligrent Yuvraj Singh (118 off 122 balls with 15 4s & 2 6s) & wild strength of Yusuf Pathan who scored 50 off just 29 ... .. Read complete article
