India green squad was not particularly the weakest, with Rohit Sharma, Parthiv Patel, Manoj Tiwary, Piyush Chawla & Munaf Patel.. but they failed to gel as a team & displayed the least impressive cricket. None of their batsman got past 65 in any of the matches, neither their bowlers looked like snatching a wicket.
Having lost the game against India Red, Green team had to win this group match against Blue team with a big margin. Parthiv Patel lost the toss, but was happy to chase any given target inside 40 overs to win with a bonus point.

Mohammad Kaif might be fast losing hopes of playing for India again, but his captainship is showing colours now a days. After losing Game 1 to India Blue, it was important for India Red to play tough cricket & effect victory with big margin against Green team.
Kaif's boys did exactly that, and now Team Red is the first team to qualify for the challengers trophy final on Sunday. See points table at the end.

There's something about Suresh Raina that International cricket is yet to witness. And those who thought spin bowling is dead in India, will have good 2-3 surprises coming as Anil Kumble retires..
Today, during India Blue vs India Red game at Motera, Amit Mishra showed how to deceive a batsman in flight and rattle the stumps with a googly. Not one, but two good players of spin (Virat Kohli & S Badrinath) had no clue how their Innings final delivery went past their bat. The Haryana Spinner also was not out with 27 good runs towards the end India Blue batting.

8 to 10 current Indian cricketers will not be a part of NKP Salve Challengers series. Thus, its an opportunity for junior cricketers to impress and ask for selection.
But wait a minute, it won't be as easy for the young batsman because Motera stadium is ready with a cement like pitch with plenty of pace and carry to the keepers. Even the young bowlers Indian selectors are looking at - will have tricky adjustment to make before they bowl in Challenger's trophy.

Challengers trophy's original idea was to allow young Indian domestic cricketers to match shoulders with current national boys. a 4 50 over game tournament, all played under lights was probably the best platform for juniors to make impression on the seniors.. not to mention the selectors.
Sadly, 2007 Challengers trophy don't have no major star featuring. Consecutively, I decided to pick 5 cricketers from the tournament and allow readers a sneek-peek at what is the future of Indian cricket. Only the die-hard Indian cricketer's are supposed to read the following, whereas average cricket fans can wait for the following 5 to get selected for Team India and then know how skillful they are..

I've included some frequently asked question at the end, to help those who don't already know about Challengers trophy - a chance for Indian cricket fans to see who's the upcoming cricketer of our nation. Those who are clear about this tournament, read on..
25th, 26th, 27th and the finals on 28th. India Red vs Blue, Red vs Green then Blue vs Green deciding the finalists of the 4 day tournament, respectively. The ground will be Apart from Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad and all the matches will be played as Day night (1430hrs IST) one day games. not one day Internationals mind you!
