Sarfraz Ahmed, the wicket keeper, was given a chance by Pakistani selectors in this Asia cup on one condition ~ he shows he can contribute to the team with the bat. Bangladesh had been part of 28 one day tournaments with 3 or more teams but reached finals only twice (Associate tri-series in West Indies in 2007 involving Bermuda & Canada and tri-series at home in 2009 involving Sri Lanka & Zimbabwe). Bangla boys won that associates tri-series but it wasn't significant enough, was it? today, they reached final of Asia cup 2012, beating India and Sri Lanka. undoubtably, till date, this 29th tournament is the best effort from tigers..

They say arch rivalry brings out the best out of both the sides and it was evident today as India and Pakistan clashed in league game of Asia cup 2012. Are Sachin Tendulkar's centuries cursed for India? Statistics claim otherwise but plenty of people think so and today was just another example of it. It's been talked multiple times that Pakistan are a team that can beat any opposition on their day but sadly, their day isn't everyday. Today, although, was Pakistan's day as they came back to restrict Sri Lankans below two hundred mark and then reached their target inside 40 overs after poor beginning to seal a bonus point which booked them a seal for final in this Asia cup 2012..

Couple of encouraging chases to end South African tour, Sri Lankans intended to chase in almost every game in CB Tri-series and it worked to an extent too but today, it didn't. Indians walked away with hard fought 50 run victory, beginning their Asia cup title defence on a positive note..
Set for a target of 305, captain Mahela Jayawardene lead Sri Lankans to a rocket start, reaching his half century off just 40 balls with two two beautiful sixes and then accelerating even further. Asia cup is a tournament that has four teams in 2012 edition (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh) and each plays another only just which means only six matches to decide two finalists..
Unfair it eventually will be for one or both team who miss out on a chance to fight for the trophy on 22nd March and that is why whoever starts the series winningly will go a long way.

From 30 one day internationals head to head, Bangladesh have managed to upset their seniors Pakistan only once. Today was a golden chance for them as they did almost everything but fell 21 runs short of their target..

Bangladesh are blessed with heavy fan following whenever they play at home but team hasn't fetched the desired results. Asia cup is another chance for Bangla boys to prove themselves on a major stage and since tournament is being played on their soil, they should feel upbeat for their chances for final if they can cause couple of upsets..

Indians may have had an unsatisfactory tour of Australia but when it comes to asian conditions, they're still the world champions, winning the cup less than an year ago. Now, to defend the Asia cup, selectors have omitted Virender Sehwag, named Virat Kohli the new vice captain and retained Sachin Tendulkar. Asia cup, a cricket tournament between asian teams, was a major idea when it was first planned out back in April 1984 but with flooding of of bilateral series, it became increasingly tough to arrange top three teams = India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the same time. Result, we've had only 10 Asia cups in almost three decades..
In recent times, it seems like, asian giants have made a commitment to meet every second year and working on that, Asian cricket council has announced the schedule of Asia cup 2012, to be played in Bangladesh in month of March. All matches will be played at Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur.
