Record list : Successful 4th Innings chases

The pitch gets rough, the balls keep low. the bowlers are dominating & batsmen are tired of chasing leather all around the park..

In those situations, in test cricket, its very tough for a team to bat last (4th innings) of a test match and overhaul a huge total. over 1855 test matches so far, only three teams have went on to chase a total of over 400 to win the game. The record, of course, remains with West Indies who scored mammoth 418 for 7 wickets at St Johns in May 2003. Shivnarine Chanderpaul & Ramnaresh Sarwan scored centuries whereas Brain Lara made crucial fifty to lift his teams moral. I must also mention that the pitch ... .. Read complete article

Invincibility in cricket : Record of most test match wins in a row

1854 test matches in all (as I write this) have produced 1197 results, including 2 ties. Hence - 655 were drawn. in other words, every third test match played around the world yields a draw..

But sometimes, some cricket teams attain invincibility as they don't lose or draw any test match they play anywhere in the world BUT and win them all! in a row or in succession (however you like to understand it).

Test cricket record for winning most test matches without losing or drawing but winning, anywhere in the world goes to Australia with 16 games. That winning streak was achieved by Aussies between late 1999 to early 2001 (see list below) under the ... .. Read complete article

World's best ODI opening pair, ever!

Like dancing, in cricket - it takes two to tango. tangos after tangos, I mean partnerships after partnerships - batsman take their team to victory. without a tango/partner - no batsman can't singly win a cricket match for his team!

If a cricket team's best tango pair is at the top - the opening batsmen, even better.

Following is a story of greatest opening tango pair International cricket has so far witnessed. and I assure you - their record won't in breaking in coming 5 years at least!

Cast
Sachin Tendulkar - Right hand mumbai maestro.
Sourav Ganguly - Left hand Bangal tiger.

Team : India

Best debuts in International test match cricket.

They watch their heroes perform through television. Dreaming they could do the same. One fine day - some lucky young cricketers do embark onto International field (after selectors give the nod) and even special ones - make their debut test match even remarkable with unbelieveable performance.

I've added Michael Clarke's picture in this article before I consider his 154 against India was fantastic. That series was labeled as "Last frontier" by Steve Waugh, when Australia failed to win a series in India. Michael Clarke joined aussie team in place of captain Ricky Ponting & set the tone for that Ind v Aus series.

Another fine debut I personally like in following list is the first one - ... .. Read complete article

Highest and Lowest team scores in all cricket World Cups.

One of the best things with Cricket World Cups' is that we get to see our cricket teams against diverse kind of oppositions... but sometimes it gets really boring when your team is scheduled to play one of the minnows like Kenya or Zimbabwe.

2007 Cricket World Cup has a total of 16 teams participating, and matches against teams like Bermuda, Netherlands, Scotland, Ireland and Canada are not supposed to be watchable - unless an upset occurs or someone makes the first every double century in One day Internationals.

Another possibility is making one of the highest score in Cricket World Cups, which currently belongs to Sri Lanka. They made 398 in just 50 overs at Kandy in ... .. Read complete article

Most runs in a year : Md. Yousuf at 2nd position

It took 11 matches and 19 innings for sir Vivian Richards to make 1710 runs in one calender year. Way back in 1976.

30 years later, Mohammad Yousuf - who says change in relegion is the reason behind his great test match form in 2006, has come within 148 runs to breaking the record for most test match runs in one year.

It started with first test against India at Lahore from 13th January when Yousuf made 179 and then 65 and 126 in the 2nd test against indiat at Faisalabad.

Although Mohammad Yousuf was the batsmen Irfan Pathan bowled to take second hat-trick for India, he came back in the 2nd innings of that Karachi ... .. Read complete article

The record holders in Pak vs WI test matches.

There has been three 2 test matches series', seven 3 test matches series', one 4 test match series and two 5 test series between Pakistan and West Indies over a period of 51 years..

But as I tell you about the records made between these two very distinct teams, one series will be common - and that's the first one ever played in 1957.

6 series have been played in Pakistan, 6 in West Indies and one in UAE (sharjah as you may know it). and the scoreline reads - 13 wins for Pakistan, 14 wins for West Indies in 41 test matches with 14 draws.

Neck and neck, isn't it?

Most runs in an ODI spell..

Second final of the VB series - 2006 between Srilanka and Australia saw a record for Muttiah Muralitharan, which he will never be proud of. He conceded 99 runs in his 10 over, the second most expensive spell by any bowler in one day internationals. The only one who is above him, is Martin Snedden - who gave away 105 runs off his 12 overs, way back in 1983 against England at the Oval.

But Snedden's figures read - 12-01-105-02 which means that he took two wickets and also bowled a Maiden over. Also his economy was 8.75, as compared to 9.9 of Muralidharan ... .. Read complete article
