Starcricket live cricket schedule year 2010 for Indian viewers.

Espn and Starsports, both sports channels, made their name by broadcasting cricket in India as rivals. Then, they merged and produced another channel = starcricket. Now as days, Espn concentrates on football/soccer while starsports handles formula one, tennis and lesser important EPL games. Cricket is left for starcricket, 24 hours.

In year 2010, ESPN-Star combo aka starcricket will be broadcasting various live cricket matches from around the world and here's a list of all of them :-

Pakistan in Australia : 2009 tour continues onto new year with 5 ODI series and a concluding twenty20 International.

West Indies in Australia : is another tour to watch out for. Both Windies and Aussies love ... .. Read complete article

Tensports Live Cricket Schedule in Year 2010 on Television in India.

Only 10 country play cricket at International level, full time, and each home board has right to chose their own home broadcaster (A TV/sports channel) for all games played on their soil (except ICC tournaments).

Tensports, the UAE based Taj TV owned sports channel, is the official broadcaster of 5 of those 10 cricket playing nation but sadly, they show few cricket series. why? cause Pakistan hasn't been hosting any cricket in last couple of years and Zimbabwean cricket is almost negligible.

We're left with West Indies, South Africa and Srilanka whose boards regularly host cricket series. in following, lets see which cricket series Tensports will show live on their platform this year:-

Tensports cricket schedule : year 2008

Once, Tensports used to be the most wanted. Today, this sports channel is picking bits and pieces as they show International cricket to Indian cricket fans, but none involving Indian team.

Come 2008, Tensports is ready with exclusive rights of 9 cricket series, and 2 tours by Indian team - of Zimbabwe & Srilanka. Ask about what other major cricket series will be shown by Tensports = Asia Cup (ODI tournament between India, Pakistan, Srilanka & Bangladesh) to be played in Pakistan in March 2008 and Australia's tour of Pakistan and West Indies in February & May-July respectively.

Don't see anything more very attractive in Tensports cricket bouquet, but their schedule is as following anyway.

I'd like to coach India - Steve Waugh

He prefers using pen & paper (lucky me as I do too) in the modern world of notebooks ~ yet have chunked out 11 books. His life is very much away from cricket and more into Charity works, but true love don't fade that quickly. do they?

Steve Waugh, the former Australian cricketer can make headlines anyday, but the two Times of India articles I'm talking about (one by Steve himself & other an interview) appeared very quietly on the day of world cup final. 28th April it was, when Steve Waugh made himself available for coaching India. Team India on yet another training camp : Pepsi series preview

New opponent. New series... so a new Training camp, at a new venue.

You may feel our Indian boys concentrate more on advertisements and less on their cricket, but that's not the truth. You feel that way because those tv channels shoot those ads so many times at you - that you dream what Mahendra Singh Dhoni is endorsing... Ever realised those advertisements are at higher voice pitch than the live match commentary itself?

9 hours of non-stop same ad video is played on your television on an ODI day, and you have no where to run away but to keep rehearsing it.

Constituted with only 6 domestic teams (New South Wales', Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia), around 100 countries best cricketers first fight for a place in National domestic team and then play against each other time and time again... and then a few more time - taking their level as high as possible.

England must believe they can still keep the Ashes

To keep on living, you have to have a reason. And that reason needs to be strong enough to pull you through tough times..

England Ashes team is in toughest time of the Australian tour and the only way they can survive is by believing they can still do what they came for - retain the Ashes.

Adelaide loss never seemed possible. That's the beauty of test matches and test series'. If you can keep your nose not far behind you opponent - your winnings chances will come when no one sees it.

Thank you Wasim Akram.

Talent alone is like no talent. You have to work hard at it and also need someone to nurture your gift..

Many of us know within ourselves, but rarely discuss it that highest one day wicket taker - Wasim Akram is the reason behind the success Irfan Pathan has had. It was 2003 tour of Australia when Irfan brust onto the scene, and Wasim Akram started his career as Commentator. With ESPN and star Sports.

What actually happened behind the cameras - I don't know. But Wasim Akram, like any other honest former cricketer - started to work with a new talent from India. Irfan Pathan didn't had the pace of "young" Wasim Akram, neither had the accuracy.

Tricks for England - First.

You cannot win a test match by scoring 900 runs when opposition makes 200 and 200 for 9 wickets. But you surely can win a test match by taking 20 wickets for 100 runs having made only 101 yourself.

England have to find batsmen who can make runs consistently but if they can find bowlers who are good enough to bowl out Australia twice - they will win half the battle.

Consider this - Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, Mathew Hoggard, Steve Harmison, Andrew Flintoff and to an extent, Shane Watson are the six "right right handed" fast bowlers sure to play the first few test matches.

Ind-Aus-WI Tri series in Malaysia and Singapore.

There has never been a World Cup of Test match cricket, even when so many bloggers have tried to make a "perfect schedule" for it...

But if somehow that happens, we all know that Australia will start as favourites. And even when we talk about World Cup of One day matches, Australia seems the obvious winner. Isn't it??

But somehow, Australia is a team who have never won the cricket tournament called as Champions trophy (previously as Knock-Out tournament) over a period of three attempts. The history of Champions trophy, where teams have to keep wining in order to stay in the tournament, suggests that Australia have never even reached the Semi-Final of ... .. Read complete article

Sri Lanka Tri-series : A list of Hero's and Villains.

Me and my friends got so mad that we went to roam around our Pune city at 12 midnight.. only to find thousands others doing the same.. Enjoying that special win..!!

So what exactly is there in cricket that drives us insane... Answer is the REALITY OF THE SHOW. You can get sick of a movie or a TV serial, because you know within yourself that whatever they are showing is just acting, not real but when ... .. Read complete article

We want a World Cup of Test Matches.

Why exactly a World cup of any International sport/game is played..??

Some might say - to judge which country's team is best among all, at regular interval of time while others may argue that World Cups are played to present the best possible exhibition of that particular sport. And then, someone else will have some other logic but to me, the second reason is good enough..

World Cup's (of cricket in my case) allows me to watch the best teams from all over the World, fighting for a "single ultimate prize", which takes the level of the sport lot higher than it normally is. Dinesh Mongia selected, but what were the alternatives..??

I am not sure Indian cricket team's selectors has ever selected a squad which was acceptable to whole country. When I was 13-14 years old, I read an article by Sunil Gawaskar where he had selected his World XI team...

He started the article apologising to those whom he had not included in that special imaginary team, and also added that he hated selecting cricket teams as he knew he won't be able to impress one and all.

On 20th July, Indian team for Triangular series in Sri Lanka was announced. It contained a cricketer who already have had plenty of opportunities at the international level and somehow wasted them. This is ... .. Read complete article

India - South Africa - Sri Lanka Tri Series, August 2006.

South African team will already be there for a two test match series - from 27th of July and 4th of August against Sri Lanka and as Indian team will be the last team to arrive to the island, its easy to say that they will be least habbituated to the conditions..

Twenty20 for Indian cricket fans.

"We were out voted 10-1in the recent ICC meeting in London..!!"

This is what BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah had to say on why exactly twenty20 is coming to India, later than any other country all over the world. The story started in February 2006 when ICC first proposed twenty20 cricket matches to cricket boards of other countries which was first experimented in England. Cricket was born in UK and it spread all over the world with the passing time, but somehow, Youth of England were running away to soccer matches rather than visiting a International test match. It takes just one ball to get the batsman out, but there's always a chance for a bowler to come back on the next ball, or the ball after that. Probably that's why, since the day this rule was made in cricket, everything else has been dominated from a batsman's perspective.

India vs England - 2nd test, Mohali 2006.

Two day before the 2nd test.

Mohali is one of the most beautiful grounds in India and being a home ground for the Punjabi's, it has the reputation of the fastest among all the other grounds in India..

The pitch at Mohali ground seems to help the fast bowlers for the first two days and then becomes a batting paradise. The best things about the Mohali pitch is its bounce. The ball carry well to the keeper, which means a good chance for the fast bowlers and also batsmen can play their stroke. The thing Indians will be interested in the amount of bounce that Anil Kumble can get of the Mohali Pitch. The pitch at Nagpur has ... .. Read complete article

Schedule Of India vs West Indies - 2006 tour.

Following schedule is the last time India will be playing some cricket in West Indies before the World Cup in March 2007. This schedule of India vs West Indies in 2006 has 5 One day Internationals and Four Test Matches. First the Sechedule was supposed to be of just three test Matches but later, the West Indies cricket board(WICB) and India cricket board (BCCI) decided to go with the previously decided schedule of India's tour of West Indies.

Even I feel this schedule of four test matches is better than three test matches, as additional test match will provide our players to understand the west Indies conditions and prepare better for the World Cup. More over, its always good ... .. Read complete article

The Highlights of India vs England - Nagpur test match
.

Day 1
.

For the straight 9th time at Nagpur, the captain winning the toss elected to bat . This time it was Andrew Flintoff luckier than Rahul Dravid and as expected, England played a very good first session. Playing the seam bowlers on Indian pitches was never going to be the problem to them and they made 82 for the loss of 2 wickets. At that stage, the game looked evenly poised..

Debutant Alastair Cook played a very matured innings. He was precise with ... .. Read complete article

Being a big person, being a known person and being a former cricketer - you also have to be a responsible person. And the things that you say to the media has to be revised a lot of time within you before it comes out..

If you are trying to find the interview that Indian cricket coach Greg Chappell gave to Guardian Magazine about Sourav Ganguly some days back, then you have come to the right place...

Greg may have been a great cricket player himself, and even when his performance as the Indian coach is producing pleasing results now, he should be careful of what he says in the media. Indian squad for the 1st test against England at Nagpur.

Its always good to first loose and then win.. so that you return home with happier memories. This is what happened in the last tour of Pakistan for our Indian cricket team as they lost the test series by loosing the 3rd test and then, won the ODI series.

Now England cricket team is here in India, but the case is opposite for them.. they first won the Ashes series and then lost on Pakistan's tour. So it will be easy to say that confidence level of our team will be better than the English player... at least they will be in better frame of mind.. and playing on home soil, they must be eager to perform even ... .. It was the last match in this 2006 series, it was on Sunday and above all, it was India vs Pakistan.... but still saw people not as exited about the match as they normally are..

The reason I can think is the lack of resistance from Pakistan... after winning the 1st ODI rather strangely, they lost the 2nd, the 3rd and the 4th match in a very unPakistani manner.. the fighting spirit was missing and but the time for this 5th and last ODI, nearly everyone had a gut feeling that India will again out smart Pakistan...so here is what happened in the 5th ODI ... .. This rule has been scrapped from International cricket now. It was supposed to be experimented till the end of 2005 but was scarapped at the end of April 2005 only when all International captain protested against it. The real reason for ending this following Super Sup rule was that it was very confusing for the captains and rarely made a difference in making tactics for an ODI match.

Right now its lunch time at Faisalabad as I write this, and he has taken another wicket, with 3 more pakistan batsmen remaining. Although he has played 8 one-dayers for India, taking 11 wickets at 22.81 at piece, making your test debut, that too against arch-rivals Pakistan must not have been easy. So let me introduce you to this Lucknow youngster..

Here is his ODI and first class profile, which proves that ... .. Read complete article

Pakistan Captain Injamam-ul-haq out of 2nd and 3rd test..

The following is the latest news in India vs Pakistan test series - 2006 and probably a big turn. Pakistan captain Injamam has said this just a few mins back - "I am out of this Test match (2nd test at Faisalabad) and don't see any role for myself. But as regards the third Test, I have my fingers crossed. I am determined to play in this series but I will only know when I see the MRI reports,"

He has developed some muscular pain in left of his back and if this is the only problem he is facing, he will be out of cricket for 5 or 6 days. Which mean 2nd test at ... .. Read complete article

Defencive Pakistan - 2nd test, Day 1 and 2 highlights.

"When we go into a brand new test match, our first aim is always to win it... Draw can only be a fall back option!!" This is what Steve Waugh used to say when he revived test cricket's falling glory. His matra was to give his bowler's the best possible chance to take wickets by setting fielders at catching positions rather than saving the runs. And that's exactly what our Indian captain Rahul Dravid seems to be doing..

Do you know that out of 379 runs that Pakistan made on the first day of the second test at Faisalabad, 232 were made from boundries. I am not trying to take anything away from Pakistan's batting display and ... .. Read complete article

Pakistani cricketer I respect - Younis Khan.

To tell you frankly, I don't have anything against Pakistan but until yesterday, I somehow never managed to develop great respect for a Pakistani...but now this view of mine seems to be changing very rapidly as 2006 test series is into the second test these days.
consider the following -

First test, Day 1 :- Younis Khan and Mohammad yousuf were hitting Indian bowlers all over the park and in between, they tried to steal a single when the score read 184 for 2. They ultimately decided against it and both batsmen ran back to their crease.. and as Younis Khan tried to reach the non-striking end, he came ... .. Read complete article

India vs Pakistan - Second test-Day 1.

Frankly, watching whole days cricket and ultimately when I see OUR Team India giving away 379 runs and manage only 4 wickets, dishearten me. But it wasn't all that bad as it really sound. Our Indian team did quite well, specially Rudra Pratap Singh( R P Singh). Although he is really young and has played just a handful of matches, he has performed in every single game. Here is the Score Card of day 1.

Looking little back, yesterday Indian Coach Greg chappell had hinted something very similar to where our team stands right now, after Day 1. In this Press Conference, he reminds us that Adelaide match when Australian team where 400 for 5 wickes, with ... .. Read complete article

2nd test - India vs Pakistan - Faisalabad.

As less than 20 hrs remain for the second test in this 2006 series, I am very curious to know how the weather will be, what kind of pitch the curator has made at Iqbal stadium and what has been the past record of this Pakistani cricket ground. Let me share them with you..

The Faisalabad Pitch : As per the latest news, curator is praying for some sunshine while on the other hand, Pakistani captain Injamam-ul-haq has asked for dry grass on the pitch. And just now I have found that 60% of the pitch is made from curators point of view as Faisalabad has had a ... .. Read complete article

Virendra Sehwag - A players info.

I remember watching that test match against South Africa where he made his test match debut when he batted along side Sachin Tendulkar while both of them scored centuries. I was amazed by the stroke play duing that 2-3 hrs.. truely it was very tough to say for sure who was who. They looked so similar and played even more similarly..

Now as the time has gone by, he has become the vice-captain on Team India but he is yet to leave his carelessness while batting. The triple century(309) he scored in the first test of 2004 - India vs Pakistan series was breathtaking one and even surprised Sachin Tendulkar who batted with Sehwag for quite ... .. India vs Pakistan series on All India Radio (AIR).

Here's is a great news for Indian cricket lovers.. All India Radio, AIR has bagged the rights for the test series and also the one day series, currently going on in Pakistan. They have reportedly spend a $100,000 to get the rights from ARY. I am sure my fellow cricket lovers will be little bit satisfied now as we can listen the second test match between India and Pakistan at Faisalabad's Iqbal stadium on radio, if not see it, because of Tensports and Doordarshan Fight!! Here's the complete story.

Most wanted channel - Tensports!!

Isn't this purely bad luck that Doordarshan didn't managed to get the pictures of India vs Pakistan series from Taj Tv, the owners of channel Tensports. Who care what Prasar Bharti did in 2004 and didn't do in 2006, we are not getting to watch the test matches and there is every possibility that ODI series will be no different.

But there's more to the story than just bad luck. Remember the last time our Team India played in Srilanka, the tri-series with West Indies being the third team. That time Tensports had the television rights as ... .. Read complete article

Captain and Vice-captain about to break record..

No doubt Pakistan made a amazing score, and must have thought that they won half of the test. But then, India who already have two opening batsmen in their squad(Gautam Gambhir and Wasim Jaffer), went with news that Saurav Ganguly will open. And then when the actual moment came, The captain Rahul Dravid joined hands with Vice-captain Virendra Sehwag and are now sitting on the verge of breaking a record that not many expected - HIGHEST OPENING PARTNERSHIP. The record book has P Roy and MH Mankand's partnership of 413 as the highest till date, made for India against New Zealand at chenni in 1955/56. And right now Rahul and Sehwag currently at 403(The Scorecard so far), ... .. Read complete article

Rahul Dravid - The Captain Courageous!!

A very famous newspaper that I read every morning published a Sunday special about Rahul Dravid titled - "Captain Courageous"

The man might have become the captain very recently and is yet to register great wins but has always proved his courage. I remember him bowling his off-spinners in Titan Cup, a tri-series that also included South Africa and Australia in 1996/97, when he was called a slow scorer. Not ideal for ODIs. And then when he established himself, Sourav Ganguly asked him to keep the wickets just before the 2003 World Cup. He did that as well and quite well too. We also saw ... .. Read complete article

Bad light haunts Lahore test.

Everyone said that the weather in Lahore is not appropriate for cricket and it has now come true. Frankly, I don't like weather having a say in cricket. No doubt Pakistan had made a huge total of 679 for 7 declared, I am sure our team would have earned a Draw, if not a win. If their batsmen can make run on that lahore pitch, I am sure our batsmen can do better and have the capability to make 680. And then if the match is drawn, I'll be satisfied.

Anyways, I have no contact with god and I can't fight the weather. So lets just hope the match restarts soon and we see another Sehwag special, who ... .. Read complete article

India vs Pakistan, 1st test, - Day 1.

If you are looking for the real TV highlights with bat and ball, action and replays, four and sixes then you better try Doordarshan at 2200hrs. That if you don't have Tensports at your place. Following are just words - explaining what you may not have noticed during the first days play..

All timing are according to IST.

0956 - Injaman wins the toss and expresses his desire to bat first...in some language. Certainly not English!!
1015 - Shoaib Mallik and Salman Butt face the first over from Pathan and hardly leave anything alone, as nearly all openers do in trying to understand the wicket. We notice a bandage over Dhoni's left eye, ... .. Read complete article

No live telecast on Doordarshan..

Doordarshan is not going to show us the test matches in pakistan, starting in round about 18 hours from right now, as I write this. They lost the case in Supreme court and who ever now wants to catch cricket, has to have Tensports at home. Although cable operators are nothing new to our country, having Tensports is not all that easy as it sounds...

When last time our team played in Pakistan, the telecast rights were with Tensports again. But when Doordarshan showed us all the matches(even the test matches), no cable operator went to Taj TV and brought Tensports as it wasn't required. Moreover, since that time, no significant match came live on that channel. Result ... .. Read complete article

My Prediction..

I was in my tenth standard when I saw eleven names written by a girl, in her rough copy.... To tell you frankly, I wasn't that much interested in watching cricket till that day, although I always considered myself a good all-rounder!!

But that day, I really liked that girl's idea of selecting MY ELEVEN for Indian team and the opposition. And I have been doing if for last 9 years, just one day before every match. Probably this gives me the feeling of being lot closer to my TEAM INDIA then I really am.

So......Lets do it for tomorrow's match and lets see what comes out -
