VRV Singh1.jpgWho exactly is VRV Singh?? If that is the question in your mind then you have come to the right place. He is the fastest bowler in Indian ranks till date although he is yet to make his International debut. He is another India under - 19 product like R P Singh and Suresh Raina and has played 7 Ranji matches for Punjab so far..

His coach - Sukhvinder Bawa describes his boy as - "At times, we had to console him because he would be disappointed if he didn't hit any batsmen on the head.....I always just let him be because of the raw speed he generated. Line and length can come itself with the experience. So why stop VRV when he already have his pace in his favour". He can easily bowl at 145 km/hr and may be more, but is a injury prone bowler. In his first year of domestic cricket, he managed only 7 Ranji matches but took 34 wickets at 20.67 a piece including a 7 for 75 in an inning.

This much was enough for the Indian selectors to give VRV Singh his chance in international cricket. He was selected in Indian cricket team to play in the last two one dayer against Srilanka but didn't managed to unleash his pace against the best of Indian batsmen at the net session in Rajkot, where he was found being affected with "inversion injury to left ankle".

This Chandigarh youngster had a brilliant Challenger trophy where he took 3 wickets against India A and two against India Seniors to help his team win the trophy at Mohali in September 2005. He is a open chested bowler, around 6 feet and 3 inches tall and gives a loud groan while bowling. He at times struggles to get the ball on the exact line and length, but he neverVRVSingh.jpg compromises with his speed.

Former Pakistani skipper and now coach of Punjab - Intikhab Alam feels that Vikram Rajvir Singh is the fastest Indian bowler he has ever seen and can be real trump card for Team India, if handled properly. These days VRV singh is concentrating on reverse swing the ball after he has developed the ability to swing it conventionally at that fast speed.

Another thing in this young man favour is his batting. He has so far played 149 balls in his Ranji career and has made 152 runs at the average of 21.71. He is a typical Punjabi, with a cute face but loads of energy and some rare talent. I am sure it won't be long before we see VRV(as he likes to be called) make international batsmen jump on the wickets. Our Indian batsmen have done it so many times against some fast opposition like Shoaib, Brett Lee and Ntini. Now its their turn to watch someone from Indian side do it to their batsmen!!

More on VRV Singh.
