20 February 1985 ~ the first time Indian cricket team played in colored dress. it was a India vs Pakistan Day-Night ODI of Benson & Hedges World Championship in Australia which India won it by 6 wickets.By the time 21st century started, all One dayers had colored jersey for all teams whereas Test cricket continued in whites. Year 2006, Indian cricket started yielding big bucks and sponsors queued up to take charge of Indian Jersey.. BCCI sold Indian cricket team's official kit sponsorship to one of world's top sports wear company = Nike, and today, 18 February 2009, US based manufacturing agency released its second installment of India Jersey which is much darker blue than previous sky blue color. Manufacturers claim that this new India ODI jersey is developed after extensive research by designers and has gone through many tests in Nike sports research laboratory and hence, it is much lighter in weight, absorbs more sweat and since it has a much darkish color - it'll get less dirty on a cricket field. Indian fans may not have noticed, but since the emergence of Twenty20 cricket, teams like Australia, New Zealand, England & South Africa play with three different coloured dress for T20, ODI & Test cricket (whites for all). This new dress for India might also be a part on same pattern, which indeed makes some sense! India goes on New Zealand tour in couple of days which will be starting with Twin T20 games on 25 and 27 February and there's also second Twenty20 World Cup 2009 which will be held in England in the month of June.
