Few years ago, I read that a young boy in srilanka killed himself and left a note that he be buried with a cricket bat and a ball. The unfortunate boy wanted to reborn as a batmen as good as his idol, Arvinda DeSilva.

That's a good idol to have, but at the cost of your life.. well, I deny but still hope that that boys wish comes true. Drifting from the sad topic and falling on the subject I want to convey to you, Wasn't Arvinda a great batsmen. The man was the biggest factor in Srilankans winning the 96 World Cup, probably their biggest achievement as cricket playing nation. Man had the capability to win matches on his own....but does Srilanka have any more of Arvinda's in their Den??

I wonder when they won a test outside their land (barring learning teams like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe of course). No doubt Srilankans play great cricket at home. I have seen them beating Australians quite a few times, and ours as well along with nearly every other team.. but only at "their" grounds. Outside, they are no more than a overrated bunch.

When Rain God finally stopped smiling at Chennai, they came and bowled out team for a very paltry score and then nudged past it to speak loudly about the preparations they have made and will give us a good fight in the next two tests......Well, we will be entering the third last day of the test series tomorrow and it remains to be seen that they can take the test into the fifth day...I doubt.

To win a test match, you need to believe that you can win it, before actually winning it. Whenever I watch Srilankans bat, or bowl, they give me a impression that they are trying to save it, rather than actually blowing out the oposition. Today they deliberately slowed down the over rate, thinking to utilize it for making runs. In between, they missed the first job in hand - to bowl out the other team. And ended up giving away at least 100 more runs, which ultimatly will cost them the match.

It will be better for the Islanders to look into the matter very seriously. I am sure they have the capability to do it, just hasn't realized it. Its very easy to hit a four when thousands are screaming for you, but show us that you can take a single when nobody knows you....which is more important!!
