India vs Paistan - 3rd test, day 1 highlightsTag
Article
Although it came after 10 boring days of cricket, but finally Day 1 of third test at Karachi showed what India vs pakistan is all about..first it was Irfans' hat-trick. Let me try to explain how it happened - first it was Salman butt, who tried to drive the ball which was swinging from Irfan Pathan. Wasim Akram has really given Irfan the clue of bowling banana swing, which comes into the right handed batsmen and goes away for left handers. Thats what happened on the 4th ball of the third test and then it was Younis khan, who came into the way of Irfans' ball which was coming straight in. It was amazing to see how confident Irfan was after the ball hit Younis Khan's bat. He kept on running towards the wicketkeeper to celebrate and even Simon taufel didn't take too long to raise the finger. This was the 5th ball of the over.. 6th and last ball didn't see too many changes from captain Rahul Dravid, even if it was the hat-trick ball. And probably the best thing that Irfan did was nothing, he just bowled the same delivery that he has been bowling for last 2 occasions and even the result didn't change..Mohammad Yousuf played a casual drive and the ball easily beat his defence...HAT-TRICK. Only the second one from India - first one coming from Harbhajan Singh in Eden Gardens - Kolkata against australia. But after that, I must say, Pakistan's lower order showed the fighting spirit that they are known for, specially against India. Kamaran Akmal made 113 runs of just 140 odd balls and hit Indian bowlers all over the park. Abdul Razzaq also played well after Pakistan were 39 for 6. But the thing that kept catching my eye was Shoaib Akhtar's commitment. He made 40 odd brilliant runs and when Pakistan were finally bowled out for 245, he came out bowling as fast as he could, after having spent lots of energy for his 2hr long batting innings. Even when he got the wicket of Virendra Sehwag, he looked unsatisfied.. to me, seemed like he wanted more, just one wicket wasn't enough for him. Believe me, Shoaib on this day 1 of 3rd test, looks hungry. Indian will do very well if they can manage to play him moderately well tomorrow. Seems like his is committed to win the test for his country and show that they can win even without INZY. Another thing that really Impressed me was Mohammad Asif's line and lenght. He looked the most dangerous of the Pakistani bowlers and was pitching the ball probably at the accurate position. He got two wickets - caught behind of Rahul Dravid and bowled of Laxman. Although Laxman has always been little lazy player and get bowled often, the ball was one of the best. It pitched about three stumps away from off-stump and came in very sharply to take his leg stump. Very much like an off-spinners ball. but no spin, only seam.. At the end of the day, Indian's are 72 for 4 with Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh. But to my knowledge, game is completely even. Whoever plays better from Day 2 onwards will win. And lastly, don't think pitch is having too many devils for the India vs Pakistan - 3rd test, day 1, score card. Related Articles |

batsmen, it helps only when the ball is new, but the grass on the pitch keeps the bowlers interested. Thats it..
