Pakistan team has been cooling their heals at home since long and Srilankan tour comes as a fresh breath of air for them. Lankans, on other hand, have as busy schedule as there can be for a cricket team. They've just finished off Test & Triseries in Bangaldesh and post this 3 ODI series in Pakistan in January 2009, they'll be back home for another ODI series against Indians and then come back to Pakistan for completion of Test series commitment.

Srilankan selectors have chosen a ODI squad which is filled with exprience of limited overs cricket and also few youngsters in Thilina Kadamby and Angelo Mathews, who did quite well in Bangladesh triseries just concluded.

Return of Farveez Maharoof will be most heartening for Srilankans fans as this right hander is probably their only all rounder and he had a wonderful tour of Pakistan last time around.

Sanath Jayasuriya, already completed most one day internationals by a cricketer, will be opening the innings for lankans once again with Mahela Jayawardene captaining and his debuty is, forever relaiable Kumar Sangakkara.

Another name we must mention here is Ajantha Mendis. a revolutionary spinner for Sri Lanka in last 6 months who just broke the world record for fastest 50 wickets in oneday international cricket. That said, Pakistan opener Salman Butt rejects any threats saying several local bowlers in Pakistan bowl like Mendis does and Pakistani batsman will have no trouble facing him!

Jehan Mubarak and Upul Tharanga will fight for the openers slot whereas Chamara Kapugedara will try to finally cement his slot in middle order where he has had plenty of opportunities with lots of promise but little success.
