Day 2 : South Africa dig their grave in last hour of the dayFiled under
AUSvSA Perth Test 2008
Renouned as chokers, South African batting confirmed their tag by losing not
one, not two or three but 5 wickets inside 50 minutes & only 44 balls
towards the end of second day's play today.Full Scorecard. Australia began day's play in typical resistant manner with Jason Krejza & number 11 - Peter Siddle consuming 9.5 overs to add 34 more runs. 15 for 3 and then 155 for 5 - final first innings score of 375 by Australia was not only respectable but also frightening. South Africa lost opener Niel McKenzie in 8th over but Hashim Amla provided solidity with good 90 run partnership with captain Graeme Smith for the second wicket. Both fell 10 balls apart but AB de Villiers and Jaques Kallis made another 124 runs partnership for the 4th wicket which, for the first time, looked like taking visitors to a commandable position. Aussie Captain Ricky Ponting bowled Jason Krejza consistantly, probably compensating the fact that he has been behind over rate for both previous series against India and New Zealand but offspinner was easily negotiated by de villiers and Kallis. they picked up singles at easy and also hit a six each. Mitchell Johnson, already 2 wickets from 3 to tall, proved their nemesis for Proteas in last over of the day with wickets of de Villiers (edged away going delivery to keeper), Jaques Kallis (again edging one away swinger to keeper), JP Duminy (gloving short pitched ball), Morne Morkel (front egde going to mid-off) & Paul Harris who gave simple catch to Jason Krejza at leg gully. From now on, Proteas have no choice but to chase the game. Photo Quiz : Identify Cricketers | Pictures : Cricketers Wife & Girlfriends Related ArticlesAUSvSA Perth Test 2008
