Test Squad : Australia keep Krejza option open.Filed under
SA in Aus 2008-09
Most cricket playing countries, world wide, would select a squad of 14 cricketers for home test series.. India, sometime, goes a step further and opt for 15 member squads. The idea is to give youngsters a feel of International dressing room & practice sessions! Not with Australian (and England) cricket though. for a home series - selectors would pick only 12 players and even the 12th man is sent for domestic matches while a local emerging player does extra's job. The idea is to make joining top cricket team in country a real tough cookie to crack! Following is Australian Test Squad for 1st test match against South Africa starting 17th December 2008. Being a home team, you also have the opportunity to add or subtract players as per need as the series goes from 2nd test to third. Shane Watson has made a bit of comeback after being overlooked for second test match against New Zealand a week ago.. that time, at Adelaide, Nathan Hauritz - the off spinner came in. He had actually replaced Jason Krejza - another lanky off spinner who made quite an impression during Indian tour a month ago. Man to miss out, is Peter Siddle who caught an eye during Mohali test match where he bowled his heart out, and maintained fine line with good pace. Brett Lee managed some wickets against friendly opponent Kiwis but it'll be interesting how he bowls to Proteas in this series.. otherwise - Siddle is waiting.
