Dhoni and Younis Khan bowl on day 5, Faisalabad test.Filed under
Article
Test cricket can be so boring at times that it gets funny. Day 5, 2nd test, India vs Pakistan had nothing that audiances will look forward to, but now I am sure whoever missed it, missed watching Mahendra Singh Dhoni take his keeping pads off and bowl the over of his life..He bowled medium pacers and although he conceeded 13 runs, he didn't do that bad. As you can see in the picture(if you can take you eyes off his hair), the ball has upright seam and if pitch would not have been as dead as it was, we might have seen his first wicket as well.. He has also bowled 18 balls in Ranji Trophy, as you can see in his profile. This wasn't all for Faisalabad test. When Indian 2nd innings started, Younis Khan gave the first over to Shahid Afridi and then himself bowled from the other end - 4 overs in all. Although his first two balls didn't managed to go in a straight line, he did better than Dhoni as he conceeded on 5 runs!! His profile tells me that bowling is not really an alien thing for Pakistani vice-captain, so I wo nder - shouldn't Kamran Akmal been given an over or two??Now he must be raising the question around the world that how many times a wicket keeper has left the gloves and have bowled. I remember Andrew Hall of South Africa keeping in an ODI against Australia at the colonial stadium and bowled the last over. He also won the match for his country as he gave only 5 runs, when 8 were needed. I cant really recall any other such occasion. Do you?? India vs Pakistan, 2nd test - Faisalabad. The scorecard.
