Murali-Vijay-Tamil-Nadu-Batsman.jpg Cricket, is played with wrist! isn't it?

With the heavy bats cricketers use these days - its just a matter to connecting well with an intent - and ball flies past the baundary. Batsman like Yuvraj Singh, with free flowing backlift & strong wrists have already achieved hitting six sixes in an over and I'm sure someday soon a double century in ODI (50 over match) will be made.

Now Murali Vijay - the opening batsman from Tamil Nadu, doesn't have huge backlift but he sure has strong wrists. I call him a Sense, Stroke & Strength batsman cause he has the temperament (and defense) to negotiate good balls, array of attacking shots (which he plays only after getting set) & packs a punch when he hits.

'Lofted Back-foot off drive' is a dangerous, difficult & daring shot not many batters around the world play - but Murali Vijay does. In fact, Vijay is known for his back-foot play + wristy flicks on the on side.

Murali Vijay decided to be a professional cricketer quite late : at 17 years, he was no where. Then joined Chemplast named club in Chennai and made his Ranji Trophy Debut at the age of 22. Equally adapt to play fast bowling and spin - Murali Vijay is a confident man now.

M Vijay is also a terrible fielder. Unless he improves his skills on the field and also the running between the wickets - It will be interesting to see how he survives in International cricket.
