International cricket council (ICC) has always been criticized for not making tournament schedules where strong teams play stronger teams & thus - cricket played is of high level. Its a fact that not too many countries play cricket extensively which, at times, allows minnows a chance in big cricket tournaments which virtually spoils the initial stages..

Come 2008 Champions trophy cricket tournament in Pakistan - this time ICC has made a schedule that will see two groups of 4 teams battle for places in semi-finals. This means - only 8 teams will be participating in this years Champions trophy (Bangaldesh not playing) which will have only 15 one day matches - but all of them of top quality.

There has been rumors of this tournament shifting from Pakistan to Srilanka due to security reasons but that remains to be seen & we'll know for sure only when month of September do come..
