Defencive Pakistan - 2nd test, Day 1 and 2 highlights.Filed under
Article
"When we go into a brand new test match, our first aim is always to win
it... Draw can only be a fall back option!!" This is what Steve Waugh
used to say when he revived test cricket's falling glory. His matra was
to give his bowler's the best possible chance to take wickets by
setting fielders at catching positions rather than saving the runs. And
that's exactly what our Indian captain Rahul Dravid seems to be doing..
Do you know that out of 379 runs that Pakistan made on the first day of the second test at Faisalabad, 232 were made from boundries . I am not
trying to take anything away from Pakistan's batting display and the
flat pitch that they have made, but it was also due to Indian Captain
Rahul Dravid. Even when batsmen where scoring at good rate, he kept at
least two slips for his seam bowlers and rarely placed a defencive
fielder for his spinners.. Now that's something that shows how eager he
is to win. One cannot not win a test match without taking 20 wickets,
even if they come at a high price..And on the other hand, What did Pakistan do on second day.. seven on the off-side and all Pakistani bowlers maintaing an off-stump line rather than trying to get Dravid and Laxman out. They concentrated on saving the runs even when they have 588 runs in their bank. First it was the pitch... but I am beinging to belive the report that said Injamam himself odered a flat pitch at Lahore.. Seems like he so feared of loosing that he has forgotten how to TRY AND WIN!!! Photo Quiz : Identify Cricketers | Pictures : Cricketers Wife & Girlfriends Related ArticlesArticle
