"Anticipation of scare is more scary than the scare itself"

This is what I have realised while trying to find sentences to write this post. Many of us wanted the man out of the team, few didn't. But the ones that mattered, went with the majority.

Life was easy as I always had this man to write things about. Every single ball he played, every time he ran up to the bowlers and tried to tell them the trick he used to use as the captain, and every single statement he made, or the lack of it, gave me points to write about.

But the man, who had the guts to show his chest to the English people, force Dravid to keep wickets, Srinath to keep playing, take us to our only second World Cup final, is out of the team and soon from our talks..

I was in my tenth standard when I read about a "young" batsman who hit a century on his debut, on English ground when every other batsmen failed and Navjot Singh Sidhu ran back home (after he was asked to sit a match). That series saw the man hit back to back centuries and made some serious future promises.

And aren't those promises served??
I'll take the answer as Yes. Life must have felt like a dream to the man, who may not had anything, but the will power. And the timing.

But the dream is over. We people love the game. And only the game. We love our rising stars. But sadly, we have very short memory. As we forgive our team for match-fixing or loosing 10 matches in a row when they win one or two, soon this man will be into records books, but out of our talks. And advertisements too.

I won't be surprised if he announces his retirement now. Having said all this, and being a believer in the sentence - Nothing is impossible, can this man do what no body is talking about.....A COMEBACK!!!
