Points table & Winners list : Tri series in AustraliaFiled under
CB Tri-series 2008
Since 1979, Australia host a tri-nation one day tournament involving home team, and two visiting teams. I'll include a winners list of all Triseries in Australia over the years or see all info list on current
(2008 triseries between India, Srilanka with Australia) but first - we start with the points system of these annual tri-series been played in Australia. Every year, this points table become utterly important as we come close to last few of this 12 league match tournament which has a best of 3 final (winner) system.*Win with bonus = 5 points. *Win without bonus = 4 points. *Tie or no result = 2 points each. *Loss = 0 points. What is win with bonus points? Well, consider a team is chasing a target of 250 in 50 overs but finishes the match inside 40 overs - they win at a runrate of 250/40 = 6.25 runs per over. Exactly 1.25 times more than their opposition.. so, they take a bonus point. Conversely - If a team chasing 250 in 50 overs is bowled out for less than 200 = runrare of 1.25 times less than the target they were initially given - they conceed bonus point to their opposition. *If two teams finish with equal number of points after all their league matches are finished : how will reach the final will be determined by following list of rules.. *Team with most number of wins, qualifies for final. *If equal, team with most number of wins against the team they are tied with goes through to final. *If still equal, team which has won more number of Bonus Points in league matches moves ahead. *If still equal, team with better Net-Run-Rate would move into the finals of this Triseries in Australia.
Note : Points table above was updated on 22th February after [Australia vs Srilanka] Match 9. see full schedule & results list of this triseries so far. How is Net Run Rate Calculate>? *Add all the runs made by your team in all league matches. *divide it by the sum of all overs they played in league matches This is your Identity 1. Now, *Add all the runs made by opposition against your team. *divide all the sum of all overs opposition played against your team. This is your Identity 2. Now : subtract Identity 2 from Identity 1 and you've net run rate (NRR) of your team! Note that is a match yields a no result - no run rate is calculated off that match. History/winners table of triseries in Australia
Note : that 2nd & 3rd edition of this yearly tri-nation cricket series in Australia had a best of 5 match final but soon it was changed to best of 3 final. In year 1994 - four teams played this tournament, for the first & last time. Related ArticlesCB Tri-series 2008
