Most of seam bowlers coming up in International cricket these days go through some training days in MRF Pace foundation and certain *Uda Walawwe Mahim Bandaralage Chanaka Asanka Welegedara* aka Chanaka Welegedera is unleashed by Srilankan cricket. they say he's in the mould of greatest fast bowler Sri lanka ever produced - Chaminda Vaas - and that Chanaka is lot faster as he's much younger.

A late start, but fast progress has seen Chanaka Welegedara rise from St. Thomas College in Kandy to top 15 probables under Daryl Foster academy in Colombo in 2000. working on his passion for cricket and his idealizing his idol Chaminda Vaas, Chanaka's talent was spotted by Lankan cricket and he was sent to MRF Pace academy in 2002.

His ability : left arm inswing to the right handers (Chanaka gets most of his wickets lbw or bowled) with good pace. Chanaka Walegedera was born March 20 1981 and is 6 feet 1 inche tall in height. fast bowler Walegedera was highly successful against India A while touring for Srilanka A team.

Ankle injury had kept him out of action for most of 2003 & 04, but Chanaka made his International test match debut against touring England team and took 5 wickets. It was a dream come true for him to bowl in tend-dum with idol Chaminda Vaas and looks like he's keen taking the responsibility as Vaas comes close to retirement.
