6 months before India's tour started, cricket australia had anticipated it would be biggest cricketing festival. They believed Ashes 2006, which produced $317 Millon in revenue, would be easily surpassed when Team India performs in their country!14 days (two test matches) into the series, mind games & biased umpiring has clotted over Border-Gawaskar Trophy 2007-08 which indeed had potential to become one of the best cricket test series ever played anywhere in the world! Trouble was - home team under an arrogant captain are not ready to face defeat. neither they are capable enough to play gentleman's game like it should be and win over a high class Indian team. Surprising, but wonderful was to see Indian players come out and shake hands with their opposition after the 2nd test match. They did it, as Captain Kumble explains - "Only one team played under the spirit of the game", and it was them. In fact, Wicket-keeper Dhoni and rest of 10 Indian players were so quite on 5th day of Sydney test match that they talked through hand signals! They wanted to play cricket, win the match or draw it to keep the series alive.. Umpires Mark Bensen & Steve Bucknor made sure India lose the game, by hook or by crook. now that all the motivation is killed, and Harbhajan's ban on top of it - nothing but flight back home should be India's answer under the biased & unsportsman spirited conditions. one more option is to make Border-gawaskar trophy a 5 test match series from the current year itself, so that Indian team get some hope forward after this sad Sydney test. If not, Sydney test itself should be replayed (At Brisbane or Hobart or Darwin & Cairns or anywhere else among Aussie cricket grounds) or this 2nd test match could be deleted from history books and current India vs Australia test series becomes just 3 test match series, standing at 1-0 with 2 tests to go.. No way either Mark Bensen or Steve Bucknor can continue umpiring in India's matches, neither the 3 test match ban on Harbhajan can be digested. but above all, cricket has to continue. and for that, right decisions should be made.. even though they'll be first of their kind.
