India Pak test match : important for Doordarshan

Both India and Pakistan play under similar conditions at home, and with little bit of old rivalry - India vs Pakistan cricket matches are the most important for Indian cricket fans. Thus - Doordarshan should telecast the one day and the test matches of Pakistan's tour of India, November December 2007.

But will DD1 do that? will they show the 3 test matches, 5 days a game, 7 hours each? Lets raise our voice..

What Central government rule say
All the sports events (not only cricket but others like hockey, Olympics, Tennis) 'of high interest to Indians' should be 'shown live by Doordarshan', even if a private broadcaster (like Nimbus of Neo Sports and ESS of Espn-star or Tajtv of Tensports) holds the television rights. They should give live match feeds to the public channel and share the review together with common agreement.

The actual trouble
Doordarshan reaching out of Indian region like Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Asia, Malaysia & Singapore. Neosports want Prasar Bharti to encrypt their signal so that it doesn't go out of the country. Sadly, that will cost around $20 million with lots of smart engineering and Parliament approval.. which Prasar Bharti is taking too long to execute!

What is Nimbus Neo-Sports sentence
After the world cup 2007, India played test matches in Bangladesh (was live on Neo sports) and against Englad (telecast on Star Cricket). Both times, India's national channel didn't ask for the live feeds.

Thus, Neo Sports want Doordarshan to overlook this India vs Pakistan test series as well!

What can DD national viewers do
~Get neosports channel. Its available through Tata Sky DTH service. Or, if you are in Southern part of India - some local channels might be showing the cricket matches. explore. Or, forget about the live cricket and see the live match scores of any day of test matches.
