Isn't this purely bad luck that Doordarshan didn't managed to get the pictures of India vs Pakistan series from Taj Tv, the owners of channel Tensports. Who care what Prasar Bharti did in 2004 and didn't do in 2006, we are not getting to watch the test matches and there is every possibility that ODI series will be no different.
But there's more to the story than just bad luck. Remember the last time our Team India played in Srilanka, the tri-series with West Indies being the third team. That time Tensports had the television rights as well but some how Doordarshan managed to show us the matches featuring India and AT THAT TIME, our local cable operators betrayed the Tensports officials by not taking Tensports. They didn't need to. All consumers cared about was India's matches and they were already given the alternative of Doordarshan.
Now when second test is just two days away, don't feel like you have a hope of Tensports reaching your television sets. Nearly all the cable operators are instructed by Tensports officials that they need to increase their subscribers and also their fees in order to get Tensports..
Tensports is also not available though Dish TV or DD Direct!!
As per information till now, only 10% of Chennai is getting Tensports whereas in my city PUNE - only one cable Tv called ICC is providing the "most wanted channel - Tensports", among 7 of them. So I guess about 30% of Puneites are lucky even in 2006... What about you??
