Constant cricket costs India another ODI

SymondsCenturyNagpur.jpgIndia vs Australia, 6th ODI Nagpur : Australia won by 18 runs and got unattainable 4-1 lead in the Future Cup series with Mumabi onedayer to play.

Trust me, I've huge respect to the cricket played by opposing teams, but the way I see it - India lost this Nagpur ODI because of constant cricket they're playing, and little because Andrew Symonds struck 107 notout thumping runs. from just 88 balls.

17 One day Internationals has been played by India cricket team, from 23rd June until today. Including 3 test matches in England, a rained off tie against Scotlant & Pakistan at Glasgow. not to mention the T20 world cup we won in between.

That's 34 days of highest level cricket inside around 100 days. add 50 days of treveling to different stadiums for Team India!

At Nagpur, Dhoni couldn't get lucky with toss, and also failed in hiding his frustration- ful body language whenever ball went to senior 3. Australia again managed to pile on the runs, despite knowing nothing about spin bowling. Its amazing how Aussies tackle middle over mind-games & always complile a fight-able total. 317 they reached at Vidharba Cricket stadium this sunday afternoon.

The Chase - phenomenal to start with. The old horses young captain Dhoni was frustrated from while fielding, did more than Indian captain had asked for. 21st century stand it was between Sachin & Sourav (see notes) and even trick of sending Irfan Pathan as number 3 pinch-hitter worked okay! India were all over Australia, and must have cruised to victory. But, as it happens very often, batters failed to stick to pitch until the last ball is bowled.

18 runs is how much India fell short by.

I would like to warn our team that Aussies will desperatly try to rub-it-into us by giving nothing away in 7th ODI at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. T20 game on 20th might be different, but last India vs Australia one day International might decide who feels how when India tours Australia in a months time.

The scorelines
Gilchrist 51, Clarke 0, Ponting 49,
Hodge 20, Symonds 107, Haddin 25,
Hopes 39, Lee 17, extras 8.
Australia 317 for 8 in 50 overs.
India 299 for 7 in 50 overs.
Ganguly 86(111), Tendulkar 72(72),
Pathan 29(29), DRavid 7, Yuvraj 6,
Dhoni 26, Uthappa 44 off 28.
MOM - Andrew Symonds.

The notes
-Wonder why Aussies are piling big totals in this series.. well, its because of partnerships they are making. Australia so far has had 15 half century partnerships with one century stand. In comparision, Indians have had only 4 fifty partnerships and one century stand for the first wicket in this match.

-Adam Gilchrist was seen using the sqash ball inside his batting gloves yuet again, after the world cup 2007 finals.

-Rahul Dravid dropped a sitter off the bowling on Sree santh early on. But then, he took two brilliant slip catches off just 0.44 & 0.54 seconds after the ball took the edge. Mind you - Dravid is married to a Nagur Girl. -Sourav Ganguly, after todays good innings, now averages 135.87 at Vidhrabha Cricket stadium in Nagpur.

-It was 21st century stand between Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar for the first wicket. The openers also have 22 fifty contributions together.

-A total of 15 sixes hit at Nagpur, which has a baoundary length of 66 meter all around. But mind, this is not the highest number of sixes in a one day International. The record belongs to that greatest one day international, that 434 match between Australia and South Africa at Wanderers where 26 sixes were hit in 100 over game. This nagour ODI comes at 32nd position in that list.

-Australian left arm chinaman bowler - Brad Hogg pickeed up 4 for 49 in this game. This is his best one day bowling figures. His previous best was 4 for 30.
