India vs Australia 5th ODI, Vadodara : Aussies win emphatically with 9 wickets. Lead the series 3-1 with 2 to go.

MitchellJohnsonBaroda.jpgThere was too much spin for our bowlers, so they missed the edge. We batted first, so early swinging conditions helped left armer Mitchell Johnson. bad run out cost us the initiative whereas ageing Gilly timed the ball remarkably for us to have any chance..

I can make few more patches, but one thing is for sure - holes in Indian cricket team won't be filled as easily. I wonder what team meetings do Indian team have, cause they never device anything new. whereas Aussie game plan to every batsman, every bowler & every fielder is just immaculate. Winning over Australia is no piece of cake, and neither is Indian b'day anywhere around!

With 3 seniors (and doggy Zaheer Khan) in side, fielding will never be high class. neither is any stadility in batting. Somehow the feeling of Indians not trying hard enough to win this baroda game was evident once too often. Looking at the red pitch, everyone knew anything over 200 would be fightable, but failing again in playing full quota of overs proved lack of focus from our team.

The scorelines
Ganguly 0, Dravid 0, Tendulkar 47,
Yuvraj 1, Uthappa 5, Dhoni 4,
Pathan 26, Harbhajan 5, Karthik 0,
Zaheer 28, Rudra 12,Extras 20.
India : 148 all out in 39.4 overs.
Australia :149 for 1 in 25.5 overs.
Gilchrist 79*, Hayden 29, Ponting 39*.

Match notes worth noting :
-Man of the match - Mitchell Johnson picked up 5 for 26 in his quota of 10 overs. This is now the new best bowling figures by an Australian fast bowler in India, in ODIs.
-Everyone knows, this was Sachin Tendulkars 400th one day International. He's the second cricketer to play that many 50 over matches, after Sanath Jayasuriya who has 402 matches as of today.
-With pacer Johnson, Adam Gilchrist was as much phenomenal in this match, taking 6 catches behind the wicket, involved in Sourav Gaguly's run out and smashing 79 off just 77 balls with 6 sixes on a breaking/turning Baroda pitch. 6 catches in an odi innings is the best record by any wicket-keeper, from 2629 ODIs till date. Adam Gilchrist has done it 6 times
