Time for seniors to prove their worth.

NoOneTalkingToDravid.jpgJust a thought : Verbal abuse (rough language, taunts) is a nonsense we're wasting time into. There's nothing wrong between India-Australia cricketers. They all are gentlemen. but when nations collide, words are exchanged. and not all of them are sweet, even if it is a game of cricket.

Its time India played some cricket to start scoring wins. Seniors need to show the way..

"I don't select playing eleven. that's because every second person in my country does it for our national cricket team. I'm not sure how much my opinion would matter!" said Sunil Gawaskar, some ten years ago in a newpaper article.

2 years in cricket blogging, I've tried to keep Gawaskars words, by rarely touching the team selection matters before the match. Of course, today's going to be different. With special demand from close IOC readers, I'll voice my opinion about how India can form a winning ODI combination & win in Future cup series against Australia.

1st : Certain Zaheer Khan needs to be dropped. The man is getting the cruch new ball everytime, first up, yet he's not producing wickets. Fielding is not their as well. One time, Zaheer was unplayable for left-hand openers like Graeme Smith & Alaister Cook. Today, he's a piece of cake for Gilly & Hydos. Rudra Pratap Singh must have analysed his faults with coach Venkatesh Prasad & needs another tussel on the ground.

2nd : Fix the batting line-up. India has THE BEST opening partners of one day cricket, ever. Sachin-Sourav, 11 years together, 128 innings have seen 6271 runs at 49.76 per innings. 20 century stands & 21 50s for first wicket deserves another go. without any questions asked!

3rd : Yuvraj souldn't play the new ball. Neither should Robin Uthappa (who plays walking shots & gets lwb). They should be our six hitters - at number 5 & 6 with Irfan Pathan holding backup six hitting.. if needed! remember, ball is changed at 35th over mark. Aussies are keeping wickets till 35th & then come down hard once second ball comes in (which is usually harder).

4th : Counter new ball bowlers (Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson & Stuart Clark) with caution & smartness. After openers, Rahul Dravid & captain MS Dhoni should negotiate but keep the wickets in hand. we don't need to go 40 for 3 this time.

5th : Murali Karthik is the new card in pack. With Harbhajan Singh & S Sree Santh the trump cards. Take wickets with them.

So our eleven should be : Sachin, Sourav, Dhoni, Dravid, Yuvraj, Uthappa, Irfan, Harbhajan Singh, M. Karthik, Sree Santh & Rudra Pratap Singh.

should go to Rahul Dravid. Gone are the days when Rahul couldn't score run a ball. Today, he's capable of 2 run a ball & he should win every match for India. requirement is little more focus by the honest sportsperson. He's free of captainship burden & must act like a live-wire. not a fused wire!

Sachin seems hungry & angry. He should come good soon, so no words for him.

Sourav Ganguly has had his drinks-carry, so he should be ready to play a game of cricket. no words for him as well.

Our captain Dhoni should go all out to get Australian team all out. I rarely see Aussie tail enders like Bracken, Johnson or Stuart Clark batting.. force them to pad up by dismissing top & middle order. even if it means keeping attacking fielders & eating 10 sixes.

We must go for the win. Draw is not an option in one day Internationals.
