India vs Australia, 3rd ODI at Hyderabad. The future cup : Australia won by 47 runs. Lead the series 2-0 with 4 to play.

LeeBowledWellAtHyd.jpg 9 times out 11 that Australia have batted first in an one day International, they have crossed the mark of 300. The other two instances were 281 in world cup final against Sri Lanka and today against India at Visaka stadium in hyderabad. But it hardly started that way..

At the 10th over mark, Australia were 61 for no loss, and accelerating. Looked good for first over 400 score on Indian pitch. Then -- Double blow from Irfan Pathan turning things around completely. not to mention Ricky Ponting playing his first match of the tour. Little Tasmanian was feeling for his 43 ball innings, sneeking 25 runs away but helped a lot in slowing the Aussie engine down.

A 67 ball 89 (with 5 4s & 6s each), Andrew Symonds did the slow over hitting -- sending Australia very close to 6 runs per over target. 291 to be precise. 150 runs were scored in last 20 overs!

Indian chase had to counter new ball at 140kmph speed from both ends operated by Brett Lee & Mitchell Johnson. Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa & 'experienced but lost' Rahul Dravid failed at the job, before Yuvraj joined hands with veteren Sachin Tendulkar. Together the lefty-right combination blocked out the good balls & stabilised the ship. Argument was to hit similar 150 odd off the last 20 overs that aussies had done in their innings.

Yuvraj stayed at the wicket but rest of batters failed to provide the support, after a little promise from captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni - who, after quite some time, looked good with bat in hand for his 33 I must say. Probably we now know who should be batting number 3 for India.

Interesting notes from Hyderabad
-Aussies have batted in all the occations in the series, & have scored 220 for 4, 215 for 4 & 207 for 3 in first 40 overs.. a clear sign Aussies first plotting the launching pad, then smashing the runs later.

-This was Ricky Pontings 150th ODI as australian captain. He is 5th captain to do so after by Stefen Fleming, Arjuna Ranatunga, Allan Border and Mohammad Azharuddin.

-People get insured. Our vehichles get insured. So why not a cricket match be insured. This Viska stadium in Uppal Hyderabad was insured off Rs 8 Crore. -Niranjan Shah ,Honary secretery of BCCI (whatever that means) said that Sourav Ganguly was fit to play in this 3rd ODI, but wasn't picked. He also announced the inclusion of left arm spinner - Murali Karthik into the Indian team in place of off spinner Ramesh Powar.
