Tag Indian cricket
First objective in test match cricket, was to be at the wicket as long as you can. In one day internationals, mind-set was changed to sticking at the wicket only till you make sure your team will absorb full quota of 50 overs. After that, batters had free license to throw their bat around!!
Will third & latest format, twenty20 internationals, will demand another mind-set from batsman? what will be the bowlers trick, n how important is the fielding..
Bloggers & cricket writers around the world are pouring their predictions, including me, but how about the national selectors of respective countries? those people never talk, give no interviews, but you bet they understand cricket much deeper. 3-5 wise men do their job quietly, & are the mind behind top class cricketers we admire in World arena.. We had Australian selectors selecting 30 Australia probables for forthcoming twenty20 world cup in south africa, who selected more bowlers than batters or all rounders.
Today, Indian selectors thought otherwise, & went for just 10 full time bowlers - rest batters. Following list also shows the lack of true all allrounders coming up for India.. I'm very keenly tracking this news as all countries pick squads before finalizing 15 men for south african festival.
Notable missings :
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly & Rahul Sharad Dravid.
Players you might not know :
Yusuf Pathan : Brother of Irfan Pathan, but right handed. Fine striker of cricket ball they say.
Karan Goel : Nearly 21 years old, comes from Ludhiana in Punjab. What he does, well, a left handed batter & clever off break bowler in need, specially in 20/20 cricket.
Abhishek Jhunjhunwala : Jewel of Bengal batting, with plenty of big scores last season. deserving candidate I must say.
Cheteshwar Pujara : A right handed Classical under-19 opener from Rajkot Gujarat, who is known for big scores, specially for his small age of less than 20 till date.
Joginder Sharma : an all rounder, already few odis old in Indian colors. didn't impress much then though.
Niranjan Behera : Right handed batter, & off spin bowler. In domestic cricket since 2002 season, n few of players coming up from Orissa region.
Praveen Kumar : A UP multitasker I always wanted to see play for India. Can open with bat, can bowl with new ball & is a brilliant fielder.
Anirudh Srikkanth : Son of former Indian opener Krish Srikkanth. Hard hitting like father, & another under-19 product.
Niraj Patel : Another under-19 Left handed classy batsman from Gujarat. Has been making wave since long.
