Paul Collingwood : England ODI captainFiled under
News Reviews n Updates
Luck smiles at those, who fight hard for it. Those who stay inside closed rooms never know how success tastes..Paul Collingwood is the man I'm talking about. Had Marcus Trecothick not returned home, & Michael Vaughan regained his fitness - Paul Collingwood was most likely to sit on the bench as England were whitewashed in Ashes 2006. Luck similed, n so did Collingwood's bat. He made 433 runs in that dismal series downunder to finished as England's second best batsman on run aggregate. Then Commonwealth Bank triseries, where Collingwood was 3rd best with bat - 379 runs from 9 innings. Colly was instrumental in two finals against Australia - matchwinning 120* in 1st final, then fighting 70 in the 2nd.. England, thus, got some consolation win on Aussie soil. Today - 103 days n a cricket world cup later ~ England selectors decided to give One day captainship to this middle order batsman, who has little experience to lead a cricket team. Collingwood was Durham (his country side) captain in just three four day matches & 4 one day games. In his first thoughts as England captain - Paul Collingwood said -- "It's an absolutely amazing feeling and a great honor. One thing is for sure, I'll let the players go out there and express themselves. We've played our best cricket when we've been positive". Looks like someone in English cricket wants to playing hard explosive bat-ball at last..!! Related ArticlesNews Reviews n Updates
