Flat Lahore pitch made him a stock bowler ~ taken for runs all around the park as Pakistan marched to 636 from 156 overs. Liam Plunkett is the name, and he bowled 28.2 overs in the first innings of his test match debut. Plunkett wasn't needed to bowl the second time..

Today as I write this, there are few outswing fast bowlers in International cricket. and even fewer can reach over 140 kmph mark. Liam Plunkett can do both. in fact, his outswing is so prodigious that if there's a left handed opener - he'll bowl at least 3-4 test match wides before catching the right line.

As a captain, you give Plunkett the new ball (while or red), set 2-3 or preferably 4 catching men behind the wicket ~ and sign the license for Plunkett to demand off drives from batsmen. I bet even the best one in the business will nick 2/6 of his deliveries.. as long as ball is swinging. when it doesn't swing - trouble!!

Trick is to hide Plunkett when flat wickets, and set him free - when conditions' look like swinging. This 6 feet 2 Inches tall right arm England bowler will also make you important runs. When I personally first saw Plunkett, he looked more of a batsman, then a bowling machine. But the fine line between allrounder n bowler is chances you get at highest level. Very much an Ajit Agarkar story here, and I've no hesitation that 'playing straight' is equally a problem to this Durham cricketer.

Nick named Pudsy, Liam Plunkett did his education in Nunthorpe Comprehensive, and his birth date is April 6, 1985.
