Australia & Kookaburra making 'less vibration' cricket batsFiled under
Cricket Australia
America is yet to say 'yes' to cricket, but the innovation is already here. commanded by Australia sports authority, a smart cricket bat is being made under the guidance of Professor Sabu john ~ a RMIT expert in intelligent materials.
Story starts with Aussie batsman smacking International bowlers over their heads in Caribbean cricket World Cup. no one noticed, but the averages & the strike rate Australian batsman recorded during that tournament - was phenomenal. We'll never find the exact answers, but one strong hint has come from School of Aerospace, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering at RMIT University in Melbourne, who are under process of making a cricket bat capable of reducing handle vibrations upto 42%. Less the jurk a batter feels when ball hits his bat - the more he'll like.Read this story by Nick Squires (from where I've found the picture as well)in Sydney. Nick explains how Sabu john (the professor) developing cricket bats in association with kookaburra sports - which will thrill International bowlers. and please the batters. Question is - is it really fair. Are Australian innovators smart in doing these researches, or they are just wasting their time?? Answer is - ICC is sleeping. They are still wondering why Caribbean world cup produced so less than anticipated, and what they can do to improve chances for first ever 2020 world cup in South Africa. ICC might well ban this bat once it comes out in 18 months time, because bowlers have to be thought about. but as of now when this powerful bat is under construction & reports are flowing - they aren't telling it will be allowed or not. A positive aspect for Aussies is, Tennis & Baseball has said yes to this vibration reduction, so may be. just may be ICC decides the same. Related ArticlesCricket Australia
