Best debuts in International test match cricket.Filed under

They watch their heroes perform through television. Dreaming they could do the same. One fine day - some lucky young cricketers do embark onto International field (after selectors give the nod) and even special ones - make their debut test match even remarkable with unbelieveable performance.I've added Michael Clarke's picture in this article before I consider his 154 against India was fantastic. That series was labeled as "Last frontier" by Steve Waugh, when Australia failed to win a series in India. Michael Clarke joined aussie team in place of captain Ricky Ponting & set the tone for that Ind v Aus series. Another fine debut I personally like in following list is the first one - Lou vincent at WACA ground. What a thrilling knock his kiwi played, and backed up with another fifty. Lets starts the list with him only.. # Lou Vincent stuck 104 & 54 against full strength Aussie attack (McGrath, Lee & Warne)on a pitch called Perth. # Michael Clarke 151 vs India. Experts say every run was earned by Clarke on hostile Indian bowling & pitch. # Stuart Clarke, very much a regular for Aus, picked up 5/55 & 4/34 on debut against South Africa at Cape Town. # Andrew Strauss hit 112 and 83 in debut match against New Zealand. Strauss got run out in the second innings. # Alaister Cook (landing just hours ago) crafted 60 & then 104* in his very first test match. at Nagpur India. # Mathew Sinclair made most of home debut (wellington) against windies with 214 at Wellington in 1999 series. # Jacques Rudolph holds the record of best batting debut for South Africa. 222 not out against Bangladesh. # Mohammad Asharful made magnificent 114 in second innings on debut test vs Srilanka that had spin wizard Murali. # Lance Klusner of South Africa took 8 for 64 in 2nd innings, in & against India. Calcutta is now known as Kolkatta. # Mohammad Zahid of Pakistan, not forgotten but took 4 for 64 & 7 for 66 against New Zealand in debut test match. # Manjural Islam of Bangladesh took 6 for 81 on debut.this was a test match against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo. # Graham Thorpe was out for 6 on debut (1993) but struck 114 in 2nd innings in that Ashes test match against Australia. # Bob Massie (right arm medium) bowled bolders to take 8/84 & 8/53 in 1972 debut against Australia,at Lords. # Mohammad Azharuddin of India hit 3 centuries in first 3 test matches. His scores were 110, 105 & 122, all vs Eng. # Narendra Hirwani took 16 wickets against mighty Windies of eighties. He clean bowled Viv Richards then. # Reginald Foster hit 287 on debut vs Aus at Sydney - highest by any bat on debut & best by English downunder. # Gorden Greenidge made 93 and 107 on debut against India. He also kept the wickets for the Caribbean team. # Charles Bannerman made 165 the day test cricket made it's debut itself. what a wonderful record this is!! # Virendra Sehwag got a century against South Africa in South Africa. He batted at number 5 in that Capetown test. # Mark Waugh got 138 on debut against England. He had replaced his own brother Steve for this Adelaide test match. # Greg Blewett struck 102 magnificent runs against arch rival English team. Another Ashes series it was. # Sourav Ganguly made 131. England again at the recieving end. We all know Ganguly followed it another century. # Kepler Wessels hit 162 for Aussies 1982 vs Eng. He then made his debut for Proteas with 59 & 74 vs WI 9 yr later. # Lawrance Rowe, amazingly made double & then a single century in debut test match against New Zealand.
