All time, all team World Cup match win/loss record list
West Indies cruised through the first two cricket world cups, then Indian team sneaked one. Australians were the deserving winners in 1987, whereas Pakistan surprised the world by clinching 1992 world cup downunder..Sri Lankans had a brilliant 1996 world cup on home soil, and it took a stupid Herschelle Gibbs non-catch to make Australians the 1999 world cup winners. If you don't recall, let me remind that aussie captain Steve Waugh was 70 odd when Herschelle Gibbs caught him at short-mid-wicket. Gibbs was thrilled and dropped trying to throw the ball in air with joy. Umpires ruled catch was not completely taken and Steve Waugh said - "You just dropped your world cup mate".. Steve Waugh went on to complete his century and Aussie won that league match against South Africa. This League match win was the reason why Australia moved to the finals of that 1999 world cup after a tied semi-final against same South Africans.. because they had won in previous encounter. 2003 was walk in the park for Australians, as was the 2009 edition which they won undefeated. So. how do you see 2010 cricket world cup going? Following is the list of all win, loss, no result and tied matches played by all International cricket teams in all cricket world cups so far, sorted in term of best win percentage, till the 2011 world cup.
Above list is the win-loss percentage of all International teams in world cups. 2011 tournament matches are not included. So far, Australia has played most matches and they also have the best win ratio. Indian team have played 58 world cup matches in all and have a winning ratio of 56.14. -:- South Africa is the only team who have played two tied ODIs in cricket world cups. One against Australia as i mentioned earlier, and also against Sri Lanka in 2003 world cup, which eventually threw them out of their home championship. Related Articles |
