Cricket News
I expertise as a cricket writer, not as a gossip column reporter - yet today I've to start this news article with a 2 hour old news : Aishwarya Rai, the wallpaper girl of India has got engaged to Amitabh Bachchans' son - Abhishek Bachchan, who also happens to be a Bollywood star.
![]() It's important to mention this engagment news because a billion people now have to find a new face to admire. I am sure quite a few of my cricket readers are one of them as well - so let me suggest a name : Deepika Padukone. And now lets get back to cricketing news -- -:- Pakistan in tourble : after they managed only 2 wickets for 69 runs at the end of Day 4 at Centurion. Greame Smith got out just 4 balls before the close of play, and frankly speaking = 130 more required with 8 wickets standing, sounds very much in favour of South Africans.. Having said that, Pakistan's tail wagged earlier yerterday and made sure they have a total of 199 to defend on the last day. with 130 more remaining, if any team has the ability to win it from here - that is Pakistan. They have the best test bowling in World right now and it's just a matter of waking up and doing the job... Taking 8 wickets on last-day-test-pitch is possible for even 50 runs. For scores : Pakistan all out for 302 (Rana Naved 33, Nazir 40, Kaneria 23). Smith and de Villiers out for South Africa : 69 for 2. -:- Kiwis still not lucky enough : as they failed once again to Aussie repulsion. Ian Chappell has twice said "New Zealand have always been competetive against Australia" and first Aus v NZ encounter in Commonwealth Bank Cup went to Australia by 105 runs, at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. This Day ODI started in same fashion with Gilchrist striking and Hayden taking his time. At 10 over mark, Aussies were 69 for no loss. And in last ten overs - they made 94 for 4 wickets.. What happened in between was New Zealand domination with spinners Daniel Vettori and Jiten Patel, but that hardly mattered. Australians had scored 289 off their 50 overs. New Zealand started with 7 for 2 wickets and then only 40 odd in their first 10 overs. In their last 15 overs - New Zealand were losing wickets... but in between, from 11th to 30th over in New Zealand batting - we saw Ross Taylor and you bet he looks good. Batting at number 4, Ross, a right handed batsman, slapped 3 sixes and went on to make 84 off just 82 balls.Since he was gone, New zealand batting missed someone like Jacob Oram and that was it. They couldn't even manage to deny mighty Australians a bonus point. New Zealand's Shane Bond takes ODI Hat-Trick : The 23rd in all, first ever by a New Zealander and 4th Hattrick against Australia. New Zealand fast bowler was bowling the last over of this Aus v NZ Commonwealth Bank Game 2 and his first wicket was Cameron White, caught by McMillan. Next was Symonds - caught by wicket keeper Brendon McCullum and Nathan Bracken was bowled by Shane Bond. Here's the list of all time International hattricks in One day cricket.
