Must read for every Indian cricket fan : The Neosports time table.Filed under
Article
All information I can give you about this mysterious Nimbus channel (called Neosports) is that
ESPN-star collaboration has got the distribution rights this sports
channel. So I guess people who have Dish TV or TATA Sky satellite cable at their homes, will be having this channel.
But people like me - who still are struck with local cable operators - will not be having this rare channel called NeoSports. As I myself is in this problem, I'll do my best to find more information on how to get their channel, but as of now - let me tell you about the matches that Neo-sports will be showing in the coming years -- It starts with India vs West Indies series in January 2007. Followed by Sri Lankan 4 ODIs in February. Remember that all the matches shown by Neosports will be played in India as they have the Indian broadcasting rights they won with BCCI some months ago.Come June 2007, and we have Afro-Asia Cup where all asian cricket teams - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and African nations - Zimbabwe, Kenya and South Africa will fight it out for this One day tournament. Neo Sports will be showing these Afro-asia cup live to Indian people. In October we have Australians coming for 7 ODIs, and then Pakistan for a full series of 5 ODIs and 3 test matches. Year 2008 will have South African series in March, Afro-Asia cup in June, Australians coming in October and then England coming early 2009. And if this much of future planning is not enough - Neosports will bring you Australian series again in November and Sri Lankan series in December 2009. Neosports has also announced that South Africans will be coming for a full series in February 2010 and they have the telecast rights for that tour as well. Note : If you are comfortable with annoying but passionate Hindi commentary of Maninder Singh and company - you might want to ignore this Neosports channel because all of the above matches will be shown live by Doodarshan as well - the national channel of our country and reach every single part of it. The above mentioned Afro-asia cup might be missed by Doordarshan as its venue may change to Pakistan or Sri Lanka next year - but remaining matches are bond to be live on DD1 as well. In fact - the functioning of Indian government about this telecast rights is changing rapidly and they may come up with a agenda where all sports channels will have to share their feeds with Doordarshan. This for the simple reason that cable or satellite channels are not available in our rural areas. So, even if the live matches don't come - highlights of all Indian matches (no matter where team India plays) will be on Doordarshan. Just wait for a few more months. Related ArticlesArticle
