As close a battle as we come to expect whenever arch-rivals India and Pakistan clash, fortunes fluctuated from one side to another but rested in green team's favour who had Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Mallik to thank after sorry bowling story..
Up against a stiff target of 186, captain Mohammad Hafeez continued Pakistani fight after Imran Nazir departed cheaply, followed by Nasir Jamshed who was run out without facing a ball. Kamran Akmal played second fiddle in 51 runs stand but came into his own while R Ashwin snatched Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal to seize the momentum for blue team.
Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Mallik, both making sort of come back into the national team and hence having a point to prove, used their experience to stay at the wicket till the end, utilizing renouned poor Indian late over bowling and winning the match with 5 wickets and 5 balls in hand.
Earlier, Indians were off to brisk start having elected to bat, less due to openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir and more because of some wayward bowling from Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Hafeez. Umar Gul broke the 41 runs stand and then Saeed Ajmal ate up Sehwag to bring match back to balance. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma now had a task in hand and they did it nicely, slowly accelerating the rate as they added 127 runs for the 3rd wicket. both crossed their half century to push Indians to a solid total.
