End of day 1 : NZ 1st inn = 328/6 in 81.3 ovs (van Wyk 53* + Bracewell 30*)
Justifying his decision to bat first, New Zealand captain Ross Taylor struck an enterprising 99 ball century to push his team's first claim of the tour. Martin Guptill, Daniel Flynn batted well too while Kurger van Wyk and Doug Bracewell added 82 runs unbeaten runs to end the day on positive note. Indian spinners, specially Pragyan Ojha, bowled well but there wasn't too much help for them on first day.
End of day 2 : Ind 1st inn = 283/5 in 78 ovs (Kohli 93* + Dhoni 46*)
New Zealand lower order didn't show as much fight as Indians wrapped up last four wickets for just 37 more runs. Then, Tim Southee inspired Kiwis with two wickets up front despite Virender Sehwag stroking boundaries at other end. Visitors continued to take wickets throughout the day untill MS Dhoni joined Virat Kohli and saw off the day.
End of day 3 : NZ 2nd inn = 232/9 in 69 ovs (Patel 10* + Boult 0*)
Virat Kohli completed his second test century while R Ashwin added 33 valuable runs for the last wicket, leaving just 12 runs lead for New Zealand who came out attacking in second innings, trying to build a defendable target on board. Almost all batsmen got a start but none of them continued for long as Ashwin took his 5th five wicket haul in test cricket. Match is intriguingly poised with plenty of overs to spare.
End of day 4 : End of the match
Up against a target that has never been scored by any team in 4th innings at 40 year old venue, Indians showed their hunger for victory despite some hiccups mid-way through their chase of 261. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir gave home team brisk beginning but visitors made come back through Jeetan Patel. Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni sealed the victory minutes before close of play.
