Tag Aus-Pak-2012

After the first ODI which Aussies won, captain Michael Clarke had openly said that his team needs to bat better against Pakistani spinners but the couldn't improve today as Mohammad Hafeez, Abdur Rehman and Saeed Ajmal bowled 30 overs between them and conceeded just 114 runs for 6 wickets..

Electing to bat first, visitors began their innings conservatively with Mathew Wade departing in the second over and then David Warner carving his natural instinct to negotiating not blast the new ball. Clarke played a good hand but Aussies lost 4 wickets before hundred runs were on board. Michael Hussey battled hard, adding 66 runs with George Bailey before Glenn Maxwell tried to accelerate the scoring. Aussies managed to compile a 5 runs an over target but it was never going to be easy to defend it.

Mohammad Hafeez gave Pakistan a brisk start while Nasir Jamshed batted with authority and flair. Aussies needed wickets with new ball to add the pressure but opener got 66 runs together and then Jamshed dominated the 101 runs partnership with Azhar Ali. Asad Shafiq didn't last long but captain Misbah-ul-Haq finished the job with Ali, with plenty of overs to spare.

Nasir Jamshed was named man of the match for top scoring in the match. Series is locked 1-1 now with 3rd and final decider to be played at Sharjah on 3rd September.
