When your coach is quoted as saying, "This is one of the hardest squads we've had to pick for a while because we had quite a few players competing for places", you know Zimbabweans will be carrying some tested talent into T20 world cup 2012. In fact, barring, Richard Muzhange, rest of all 14 cricketers have played at international cricket and few of them have been impressing for a while now. Can zimbabweans make a mark this time? only time will tell but here's a strong looking squad they've announced for the tournament..
Schedule : T20 world cup 2012.
Brendon Taylor is a fast improving batsman and the captain of Zimbabwe squad. Taylor is also the wicket keeper of the team, which means he'll have plenty of chances to inspire his team both in the field and with the bat. Taylor will take the responsibility of scoring most of the runs along with Vusi Sibanda, Hamilton Masakadza, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Craig Ervine and former skipper Elton Chigumbura. There's certainly some fire-power in african batting and they all field acrobatically.
Raymond Price will lead Zimbabwean spin bowling attack. Price is extremely good left arm spinner for any format and he's over taken Prosper Utseya, the offspinner. Graeme Cremer is a talented leg spinner.
Zimbabwean fast bowling will rest on Chris Mpofu, Chigumbura and couple of fast bowlers they've detected in Kyle Jarvis and Brain Vitori. 21 year Richard Muzhange is a medium pace making his international debut.
Selectors have also named non-travelling reserves in Regis Chakabva, Tendai Chatara, Shingirai Masakadza, Tinotenda Mutombodzi and Richmond Mutumbami.
Zimbabwe are in Group C in the World Twenty20, along with South Africa and hosts Sri Lanka. They will play the opening game of the tournament against the hosts on September 18 in Hambantota before meeting neighbours on 20th.
