Sri Lankan problem in this series has been their top order who've not formed the platform for longish batting order that home team played throughout. Even today, they began briskly but kept on losing wickets and ultimate fell well short of their target with Irfan Pathan and Ashok Dinda doing most of the damage.

Earlier, Indians began counter attackingly after being invited in to bat. Gautam Gambhir chanced his arms across the line before he was bowled and Ajinkya Rahane was little slow at the other end but Virat Kohli hit his timing straight away, collecting fours at will. Sri Lankan spinner put the breaks during the middle over and Indians never really recovered from it, restricted to a total smaller that one time they would have desired.

MS Dhoni, with 31 T20s as captain, went past Paul Collingwood.
