Expecting a high scoring game, Indians had included a batsmen for bowler in playing eleven but as it turned out, Manoj Tiwary's leg spin puzzled Sri Lankans so much that they slipped to a below par score and then Virat Kohli sealed the game with his 5th century in last 8 innings..

Electing to bat first, Sri Lankans began with intent, trying not to waste any delivery and even called for an early batting power play but Tiwary's four wicket wrecked home team's middle order. Thanks to Rangana Herath and Lasith Malinga's 9th wicket stand that they crossed 250 mark but it was never going to be enough.

Gautam Gambhir departed early in Indian chase but Virender Sehwag played some fine shots. Rohit Sharma wasted another opportunity but Tiwary didn't and then Suresh Raina secured the series along with Kohli with plenty of overs to spare.
